Upper Daddon Falls - the big falls

The Upper Daddon Falls are just outside Antalya and you can find tours from any hotel to take you there. This is the largest of the falls within the park and you can see along the ridge above the falls that there are adequate places to sit down and just enjoy the sounds of the water for a minute or hour.

She was Perge's greatest benefactress,responsible for its being adorned with monuments and statues.
As a result of her generosity,the people of Perge,the city council(demos&boule) and senate erected statues o her in various places,on the pedestals of which are inscribed the titles and duties awarded to her.These inscriptions also show her to have been considered as a demigoddness,the title of the city's highest civil servant.She was likewise Artemis Pergaia's priestess,life time priestess,of the mother of the gods,as well as priestess-in chief of the imperial cult.

The Gate of Hadrianus(üc KAPILAR)

It is a marble arched entrance with three passages built in honour of Emperor Hadrianus's visit to the city(130 A.D.) Its arches have been decorated with pictures of fruits grown locally.It is a conjecture that the statue of Hadrianus once stood on the Arch.Small towers on each side belong to the Roman period,the room over the tower at right belongs to the Seljuk Period.Two pillars are original.

"Antalya Conference Centre"

The centre covers a large area which has been beautifully landscaped. there has been a lot of thought into the use of water .There is a large lake . It flows down channels between paths which run between flower beds.

Fountains also project water into the air. Although the lakes are man made , water plants grow as if naturally at the edges.

There is a path which circles the lake , and part of it goes under an artificial cave beneath a projecting ledge that causes a waterfall.

Another feature of the centre is pyramids. There is one that is itself a kind of fountain as water flows down the sides into a shallow basin. Another is smaller.The gereat blue glass pyramid is actually a conference hall.

"The harbour"

The harbour at Antalya is now a marina for sailing boats.

Just outside Antalya is an area called Lara Beach which has a lot of new highrise hotels. It has a pleasant beach as its name implies.

Although there is and has been a lot of development, especially hotels and holiday apartments, the centre of Antalya still has its old traditional characteristics, as can be seen in the red tiled roofs.
