Taxi

by Rajindera

This is going to be my first time in Turky.

RE: Taxi

Hi and welcome to VT.
Since you really didn't ask a question, I'll assume from the subject that you want some info on taxies. Most Turks (except those dealing with tourists like in hotels or the bazaars) do not speak English. Do not assume the cab drivers speak English. Have someone at the hotel desk write out your destination(s) in Turkish on the back of the hotels card. Write the same thing in English on the front of the card. Use a separate card for each place you want to visit. Show the card to the taxi or bus driver. Make sure you have the name & address of your hotel written in Turkish. Keep the cards, they make great momentos. Enjoy your trip. Turkey is a great country to visit. Another VTer can give other taxi info.

Welcome to VT - If you are flying in to Antalya go to the information desk if you need help finding a taxi. They will be very kind. The advice to have your hotel name written in Turkish and English is a good one. That's how I did it in Istanbul. The taxi driver spoke little English but we pointed alot. The people are very kind, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip. I can't wait to return.

Hi there,if you know which area roughly you are going then check this site
www.havas.com.tr/en/otobus_antalya.asp
They have a list of dropping off points and are going to be cheaper than a taxi all the way.Ok you can get a taxi after being dropped off but as said before have the name of the hotel on you and the address.

RE: Taxi

Forgot to say that havas is a shuttle bus service they have their times on the web page.

taxi is not cheap at the touristic places in turkey. But there is always bus or minibus.
taxi drivers dont speak english but know the basic words and can point well.
tip is not a must for taxi but the driver will tell you that he has no change.
anyway he will help you and if you take a taxi from the taxi stop( taxi station) or hotel, you are completely safe.

Travel Tips for Antalya

Manavgat Waterfalls

by navaros

75 km west of Antalya 3 km from the town of Manavgat .The water falls from a platform only 2 m. but the current is very powerful.
Near the waterfalls there are nice cool gardens, restaurants and souvenir shops. Beyond the trees you can find one, on which people , with deep faith, tied handkerchief and make a wish.... Wishes tree....

Antalya's most special flavors 2

by marsistanbul about various

Tourism, migration, new comers or neocolonialism have been delivered or captured of the city, most of the restaurant or cafes forgot of their traditional or province cuisines..They've all funny-flavorless touristy menus, sad thing that they're still presenting and serving as its as a Turkish cuisine!!! you think so:o)

There are very few local restaurants which are still perform and continue of our traditional province kitchen(Antalya) or Turkish cuisine. They're not well furnished, fancy or posh places, they're all "LOCAL ICONS".You never n ever disappintment..always keep their amazing tastes, reasonable price, friendly service,a naive atmosphere, simple tables, pictures or decorations, which gives you an identity and gusto..

Tandirci Hasan(tandouri),Pacaci Saban(lamb trotter soup),Donerci Hakki Baba(doner kebap),Piyazci Mustafa(bean salad with tahini),Zamora Borek(cheese or mince pie),Yasar Usta(ice cream or fluted deep fried fritters in thick syrup),Ozdoyum(sish kebap+pumkin dessert with tahini),Sisci Ramazan Usta(sish kebap) or Borekci Tevfik Usta,Kaleici simit firini(simit)..they're all my " Local Hero or Icons"..

I have more than these but will keep its to myself and my special guests:o)
I don't want to give you of their addresses, pls ask to locals-real locals-they'll show you of their secret places,I know that sometimes they guide you wrong directions but never give up,because most of them on the narrow streets of the city, and enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner..I'm just humble, simple foodie..jajaja

opps..no need reservation,or fancy apparel,but warn u that they're not good for posh or emo girls/ boys:o)

WARNING:If u don't care my tips!! well go to hell, opps sorry I mean it..go to mc,***en donalds, kentucky ***en chicken or starbucks or eat cheap chicken or meat doner kebaps ,and just fill your digestive system, and super size yourself.. have fun :))))

Alanya visit

by sandysmith

Alanya visit
Alanya is also a large town but has lovely beaches flanking the outskirts. There are great boat trips that can be taken around the cliffs and to the caves. The old fortress affords great views of the coastline here. More pics and info on my Alanya page soon.

iandsmith's new Antalya Page

Ah yes, Antalya, where 64% of the tourists are German and the prices are, understandably, in deutschmarks. How time flies, because now they'll be in Euros. The point is that Germany is closely linked to Turkey and nowhere more so than here.
