Antalya : Swimming in March?

by ashimashi

Hi All. Does anyone know if it's worth to go to Antalya in March? My main priority is a nice quite place that I can swim in the sea with my 1.5 year old daughter. Would the air/sea temprature be warm enough any time in March for that kind of thing?

Also is it advisable to drive from Istanbul to Antalya?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

i think the weather might be pretty good in march, then again it may be rainy as well, tough to guess after all this global warming and changing climates thing :) i am sure it'd be really quiet and relaxing down there in march.
you would also get great deals in hotels.

from istanbul to antalya is a long drive, might take about 9 hours. if you are a good navigator, i'd recommend that. it will let you see the country side.
anyway, feel free to ask any further questions if you have.

thanks very much for your quick reply. I might try and drive one way and stay in Konya over night... and fly back then (if i can get a one-way rental deal).
Aside from Rain, do you think the sea would be warm enough at the end of match to take swims with a 1.5 year old toddler?

Happy New Year Ash,
It is worth to go to Alanya. We Turks usely beginn to swim at the end of June. Because the sea temperature for us is still cold. On the other hand air temperature will be getting warmer. As you are coming from a far country colder then Alanya you will feel yourself warmer. A Russian tourist asked the sea temperature recently I tod him 20 degrees. He jumped promt into sea. If you visit my Alanya page where I live 6 months you will sea how Alanya looks like. Take a look "a natural twister" page of mine. last october a natural twister surprised all tourists and locals. You can see the tourists on shore amazing the natural twister on a october day. March is better. But best time is May and June then september and october. A friend above wrote about rain. In all MED it rains during spring. But after rain the sun shines again.
Have a nice time in Alanya.

Travel Tips for Antalya

Packing List

by goodspkr

Bring a good pair of walking shoes. The tours are in ancient sites and one of the people on one tour was actually trying it in heels. Bring some US dollars or Euros. They are accepted everywhere and if you want to buy something big (ie. rug, leather, etc.) you can bargain better with dollars. Inflation is very high in Turkey so foreign currency is very desirable.

My favourite restaurant was one of the kebab houses of the main street in the tourist part of the city. I am afraid i cannot remember its name or any more location info but there are plenty of them, all grouped together. Doner kebab with yogurt and tomato sauce. Yum and very cheap!

Düden Waterfalls

Düden Waterfalls
These falls are not as good indicated as the Kursunlu Falls, but once we found them, it was great. You can walk around there and go just behind the waterfall, which was a unique and loud experience.

Antalya, where it all started and ended

"Start of our trip"

Antalya is a beach resort and it's not our cup of tea.
We had a flight from Brussels which landed there, sightseed the city and went off as quickly as possible
We just stayed one day and one night
