by shygirl39

I was wondering if anyone has shipped a large package from Antalya to the US? What is the best and least expensive way to do this? General idea of rates? Thanks!

Hi,
I regularly send/recieve packages to/from US. I use PTT's (Turkish National Postal Service) First Class Service and there has been no problem at all until now. However, to avoid customs problems, you should indicate the value of the package while sending it. Most people declare their packages as gift to avoid additional customs charges.
You may also try international carriers like FedEx and UPS, which will cost you more. I think there is a UPS office on 100. Yil Caddesi. I do not know if FedEx has service in Antalya.

It depends you package sizes. If the package is very large it will be better for international services like UPS, FedEX for safety. If not, PTT is suitable for safety and cost.

Travel Tips for Antalya

I have not been there but I've...

I have not been there but I've heard that the Museum of Antalya is worth a visit. It seems that they have a great collection of ancient objects that were found in that neighbourhood.

It is not very cultural but if you like shopping Antalya is heaven! The leather is very cheap overthere (especially if you bargain on the price) and if you decide to buy a carpet wait till you get there! It is a custom to bargain on the prices. If you are a little tenacious you can get 1/3 of the price of.

vegetarian cuisine in Antalya

by marsistanbul

Hi to everyone:)
..."they often fry food in pork fat in Turkey".!!WOW!!! first,as you know that we're moslem country and therefore,we never&ever use or eat pork meals, products or its oil.
According to moslem belief,it is a big sin!!!
145. Say: "I find not in the Message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination - or, what is impious, (meat) on which a name has been invoked, other than Allah's". But (even so), if a person is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- thy Lord is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. (The Holy Quran-6. The Cattle (Al-Anàam)
We always use sunflower, olive, corn, nut, real butter, sesame oils or margarins(made by vegetable products),etc.
YES..we..TURKS!! are also great vegetarians:)and we have great legacy of Ottaman cuise..(one of the 3.biggest..Chinese-French&Ottoman or Turkish) Our cuisine has more than 1001 different kinda vegetable dishes, most probably more than 40 aubergine dishes, hundreds&hundreds variaties of salads, real tomato(Antalya is the center of its)fresh or dried beans, carrot, okra, green or red peppers, peas, celery, spinach, purslane, zucchini, fresh pinto, jerusalem artichokes,leeks,etc..delicious pilavs(rice)plain or with vegetable,I don't know how many soups,pastries..cheese(white or yellow)
Please be sure, our country is a heaven for vegetarians, and every kind of restaurant has of their own vegetarian menu.
If you need to know more about our vegetarian cuisine, pls visit..
