From Saudi Arabia to Turkey

by tazeenfarid

We r planning to visit turkey from Saudi Arabia via Jordan and Turkey by road with three kids from 6 to 9.

I am plannig to pass through Antakiya, antaliya, Pamakule Denzili,Ephsus izmir,, Troy if possible and then head to Istanbul. Are 10 days enough for trip if we r not visiting each and evry spot and limit ourselves to sightseeing imp historical places as hieropolis at pammakale and ephsus.

We 'll try to enjoy scenic beauty of meditranean and agean regions as we pass through.

Is it complicated driving ur own car on turkish highways?

Selamulaleykum Ya Ferid and Family, Well come to Turkey. 10 days are not enough for Turkey. you must have at least 20 days if you want to breath the aroma of Turkey. Dont forget to visit a place called "Harbiye" at Antakya. It is a resort at the mountain with waterfall and good food. From Antakya you will drive towards the sun all day long to Antalya. On the way u will pass Adana Mersin, Tarsus, Silifke,Anamur, Tashucu, Gazipasha, Alanya, Side. Adana, Mersin and Tarsus are metropolis but not important. You need not to stay there. You can stay at Anamur. There are nice hotels on the beach at Silifke, Anamur and Tashucu. The route from Tarsus to Gazipasha is very antic. You will see many ruins of Roman antic cities. Alanya must be your next stop. You can over night at Alanya. Side is an antic Roman city with the famous amphitheather called Aspendos. U need not stay at Antalya. It is the capital city of the vilayet. If you want to stay a few days in the beach and forest I advice you to stay at the town of Kemer.
The roads are firts class in Turkey But you must be very cereful. Because the traffic is very heavy.
Have a nice drive.

I also like driving but your range is going to be very long in very short time.
First below is the link of official road map... U may want to use and decide which direction u want to take. After we can try to help you .

Travel Tips for Antalya

Passage to History

by Erkmen

Entrance to the old city has a fantastic gate.. An arch way is leading you to the past . The old city has been tried to be preserved as original as possible..

The big marble gate, behind, you have the new Antalya with modern buildings and all aspects of a big city but in front of you there are new things to be explored.. The historical houses of Antalya

Major airport of Antalya

by HyperFredde

The airport of Antalya (AYT/LTAI) is a major airport and serves the entire turkish Mediterranean coast (the popular southern parts) and therefore lots of people travel through here.
I just want to you to be aware of that you will have to wait for about an hour to show your passport, because there are alot of people and slow staff!

Waterfalls aroundf Antalya

by sandysmith

The streams and rivers in the Antalya region eventually find their way into the Mediterranean and cascade down the slopes of the Taurus mountain range, sometimes overland sometimes underground before reaching their destination. result in lovely waterfalls, of which there are more than twenty. The loveliest of these are the Duden Falls, 15 km. north of Antalya, the Kursunlu Falls 18 km. along the Antalya-Alanya highway and those of Manavgat 3 km. north of the town of Side.
April 2009 we visited the Kursunlu Falls - pictured below.

The Perga you find in Acts 13:13 is now commonly spelled “Perge”. Perga was the capital of the Pamphylia region. Perge is located in what is now the Antalya province.

Acts 13:13
From Paphos, Paul and his companions sailed to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them to return to Jerusalem.

Perga was the capital of Pamphylia.

Paul and Barnabas returned to Perga and “preached the word” (Acts 14:25).

Acts 14:25
and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

Perge is only 15 kilometers from Antalya. If you are departing by the Antalya airport that is very near Perge. You can visit Perge on your way to the airport even if it is a short visit it will be well worth it.
