Please recommend a special place to stay

by yesterdayschild

Dear friends,

I'm planning to spend a couple weeks in September on the Mediterranean or Aegean coast in Turkey and looking for a special place to stay. My idea of special is not necessarily a 5-star hotel (even though not excluded, if this 5-star hotel has something that makes it stand out). Maybe a hotel right next to the water, with the sea splashing in the windows, or maybe one in a fantastic garden, or one with cool designer interior. I'm looking for an experience to remember. If you have stayed in a place that was very romantic please I will appreciate if you share about it.

Thank you to everyone who replies

I seem to give this reply to everyone... have a look at

www.nisanyan.net

they specialise in small hotels which have that wow! factor.

we have just returned from a stay at Asuhan in Akyaka/Gokova, and it was wonderful, small pool, right on the sea, pretty garden (with ducks!) fantastic food, nice rooms (nothing amazing though) and on a small almost deserted bay about 5 mins out of the village. Well worth a look.

Otherwise friends have recommended Golden Key Bordubet (near Marmaris, 120km from Dalaman airport) as an amazing place. Agian on the website.

Mark, I checked out that resort, thank you for the recommendation. It looks really nice, but I'm wondering, would you recommend Kalkan over Kash?

Hi Pennie,
yes, I know about this website, and there are a lot of hotels there that look amazing in the pictures, but sometimes there are things that add to or deduct from the impression, and you can really know whether you made the right choice when you get to the place and see if your hotel really is what you hoped for.
Otherwise, nisanyan is a great resource, and I wonder if there are similar ones for other countries?

Kalkan or Kas?

by TheTurkishBrit

I always choose Kas over Kalkan, it feels more genuine to me, but both towns offer alot of the same things, pretty marina, good restaurants, wonderful sea, interesting back streets with great shops for wandering in. I think the British holiday crowd is slightly less in view in Kas too.

In Kaleçi or Old Antalya, outside the Roman Walls, is the commercial center of the city. Antalya's central landmark and symbol is the 'Yivli Minaret', a grooved minaret from the Seljuk Period. It rises near the main square called Kale Kapisi.

Waterfalls

by Erkmen

Antalya is build on rocks that are 40 meter above sealevel... And the city is staying just above this edge... The nature of the city allows many waterfalls inside the city and surrounding areas.. So just spare time to visit the waterfalls..

The most famous ones are Kursunlu waterfall and Duden waterfall..

Hanny's new Antalya Page

Hello travelling friends, I've just made a trip through the south-west of Turkey.we started in Antalya and drove along the coast to Dalyan where we had a boatride on the river and admired the beautiful graves cut out in the rocks. Unbelieveble how they managed to do such a job so many years ago. We visited the beautiful theater of Aspendos, build by the Romans and still used at official occasions because of the perfect acoustic. We also were in Ephesus, the most important antique city of Turkey. Archeologists are still digging up this city for a hundred years. We also visited Pammukele, unique in the world.Theres so much to see, go and see it all yourself!
