It is easy to take an inexpensive trip to most of the sights in and around Antalya. About 14 km northeast of Antalya, check out the Upper and Lower Duden Waterfalls. The natural beauty here is fabulous. Walk to the rest area for an unbelievable view of the falls. The Lower Duden Waterfalls plunge straight into the sea, where the view of the falls is a 10 on a 10 scale.

Hadrian's Gate
by WulfstanTraveller
This Roman gate, built under Emperor Hadrian in the early-mid 2nd century, has three portals, is in good condition, and is one way to enter into Antalya's Old Town. Notice the wagon-wheel ruts in the pavement, which one can see in many old Roman pavements, but which are worn quite deep here.
The fortifications on either side include both Roman elements, generally lower down, and Selcuk Turkish construction, higher up.
Antalya

"So nice I failed to leave."
I moved to Antalya with my girlfriend from London. Some people use estate agents but we used Google Earth. A spot was picked and here we are. Wierd Huh?
Antalya as a holiday destination has something for everyone. High end hotels at great expense. Reasonably priced hotels and down into backpacker teritory.
Antalya and surroundings are littered with history. No really! I nearly broke my ankle in Olympos on some thing older than Jesus. For the history lovers out there Termessos, Side and Phaeselis are driveable from the town centre as a day trip (*Driving!!!* more about that later I think.) For the slightly more relaxation inclined you could stay in the central areas. Basically there are three areas with sea view. Kaleici (The old town) and the old harbour in the centre (Cliffs) with Lara (Sandy Beach) to the east and Konyaalti (Pebble Beach) to the west. My preference is for the pebbles as in the summer the Sand at Lara gets so hot you cant walk on it without shoes and even thats uncomfortable. However for tourism there is a lot on offer in Lara; activities, hotels, bars and clubs on the beach. Efes Pilsner :)
Kaleici is laden with bars and restaurants catering to the tourist trade and locals great place to go on a saturday night (the usual cautions should be applied) There is likely to be live music in most places played by competent if not excellent musicians.
Konyaalti has a selection of hotels and bars yet is qualitatively diverse from Lara. I have seen more interesting fish off Konyaalti plaj
Big rays (4), Tuna (1) other (lots)
maybe they like the pebbles?
For those of you planning on learning Turkish I can recomend Tömer language school. Ipek has the patience of a saint. Hi Ipek :)
"Driving in Antalya"
Is NOT for the faint of heart.
The Turkish seem to regard being a good driver as the ability to operate a motor vehicle under extremely adverse conditions whilst having a cigarette in one hand. (This is the gesturing hand!) A mobile phone in the other hand (phone hand obviously!) now on my last count I only had two hands........
So! For vehicle operation this leaves......
2
- 2 = ?
(mathematics left as an exercise for the reader)
Side of the road? - The Turkish drive on the right........... unless there is a dual carriage way obstructing their access to a side road, shop, parking space etc. they need to get to.
Traffic Lights - Decorative items on the side of the road which from time to time change colour. I was once very nearly run down by a driver who in his desire not to break the law by driving through a red traffic light drove round the corner on the pavement at some speed.
Crossroads - A particularly amusing kind of junction where two roads cross. (nothing more! nothing less! right of way given to no one)
Roundabout - Circular thing that works like a cross roads but with the added comedy of having to stop (maybe) at traffic lights 1/4 of the way round. This can be quite confusing for those of us used to driving round roundabouts.
The good news is that nobody actually drives very fast in the city I suspect they may know about the standard of driving. (N.B. This is in comparison with London speeds)
Traffic Police - These are the poor unfortunates who have to deal with the aftermath of Turkish driving. Never a pleasant job and certainly a thankless task. Gentlemen we salute you. Keep trying.
