exciting trips by yacht.

I sailed 3 times and I liked it very much.
My fist trip was to Side. It is a wonderful town. This town was ex-Greek colony.
Now you can see there an antic theatre, Venus temple and Apollo Temple. It was
the first time I have ridden a camel among sand and ancient ruins.
During my second trip I went inside different caves. The entrances to these caves were from the sea. I have been in Pirate Cave, Phosphorous Cave, and Devil Cave (there was no devil inside this cave, just the small lake with cold water. :). The most difficult was to get to Lover Cave. It is a very narrow hole through the cape. The entrance and the exit from this cave are located at a height of 10 meters above sea (of course, I was scratched by rocks, but I have vivid recollections now :)). I swam and dove a lot, saw dolphins and even made their picture.
The last trip was to Gazipasa. Population is growing bananas. I tasted - they are very delicious. They are small, but very sweet and appetizing. In this part of Turkey there were no tourist at all. The sea was very clean. There were many ancient ruins.
I spent in Alanya very nice and pleasant time!

Theatre in the round
by balfor
This theatre was encountered enroute to Perge. I don' t know if it was part of the Perge metropolitan area or part of another town, but it was a few miles from Perge so I would have to assume it was part of another town.
It was an incredibly well preserved theatre and gives you a pretty good feel for what it was like before they went out of business and let the maintenance fall to the wayside. (Don't you just hate it when you go to a theatre and it's obvious the owners aren't taking good care of it? )
Xanthos
by marsistanbul
Located on the Antalya-Fenike highway,57km from Kas.Xanthos is an antique ruin right next to the village of KINIK.It was established by the Esen stream on the hills overlooking the KINIK plain.Xanthos is considered the oldest and largest city, and was also the religious and administrative center of Lykian region.
The site was discovered by the British scientist Charles Fellows, the British Museum has a very rich collection of finds, reliefs in particular found and stolen!! to England by Charles Fellows between in 1883 and 1844.
The city was first inhabited around the late 7th century B.C. Precise information about the history of Xanthos reached the present time through a very dramatic story. The people of Xanthos fought heroically againist the Persian commander Harpagos who was attacking the city, but when defeat filled habitants of Xanthos with despair, they killed their wives and children and burnt down the entire city, leaving this uninhabited and burnt city to Harpagos. The 80 families that survived from this mass suicede, rebuilt their city along side the old city, with the new immigrants to Xanthos.
