Fishing

by costyy2k

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about deep sea fishing in this region? Can you do it? Are there any organised trips etc that you can do? How much does it cost and what do you primarily fish for?

Mainly in the Belek area if you can specify...

Thanks

Hi there
Just returned from Turkey àfter 8 weeks travelling around the west, visited places like `Kusadasi,Fethiye and Kas all of which I recall seeing signs about fishing. Head down to their boat docks and they will find you!! They all have boards out advertising these trips and others. Otherwise ask someone, they will have a brother or cousin or friend that does it. Enjoy, we did.

Travel Tips for Antalya

A real Turkish bath...

by Redule

How it was yesterday:

I can’t believe that it is true what is depicted in Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres painting “The Turkish bath” (see left). I have heard that Turkish women are afraid to take off their clothes in the bath. Maybe they are true, because today’s Turkish bath little differs from ancient bath - Hamam.
Earlier it was not merely a place where believers could fulfil the Islamic precept of cleanliness. It was a place to mingle, socialise and gossip.

Women could proceed from their harem to the hamam with great ceremony, accompanied by servants heavily-laden with delicacies to tide the ladies over the hours they used to spend lounging in the steam.
The young women used this opportunity to show off their ornately embroidered towels and ivory inlaid slippers, not to mention their youthful figures, while older women would spot potential wives for their sons.
Men would discuss the latest court scandal or talk business and politics. Contrary to popular ideas, hamams have always been either permanently designated for one of the sexes, or have a separate schedule for men and women.

*DEVELI restaurant, a classic restaurant of meat kebaps next to the beach, good service, good value. Major cards accepted.
*7Mehmet (YediMehmet) restaurant, a legendary fish restaurant, great food in a modest ambience. Cards accepted.
*Kral Sofrasi, located in the harbour very convenient, good food, most expensive restaurant of all these, good service in spite of a funny, weird owner!Cards accepted.
*Alara Self Grill restauarant('KENDIN PISIR KENDIN YE'=self grill)6 miles from downtown, an open air restaurant where you can enjoy to bbq your own lamb and beef kebaps! Inexpensive, delicious food. No cards
A little reminder; most of the shops and restaurants don't accept AMEX and Diners for shopping and dining so make sure you have your VISA or MC card!
Main courses in these restaurants are between 3 to 10 US $, fish is the most expensive item in these Turkish restaurants (may go up to 20 US $)

ANTALYA

Our trip in Turkey was very active one. We all were eager to see as much as we can in such a short time of our being there. Turkey has so much to offer. Every morning we left our hotel and a very comfort bus drove us towards new adventures.

Antalya

by MalenaN

"On the Mediterranean coast"

I visited Antalya on both my trips to Turkey. Last year I stayed two nights and this year four nights. I have not spent time lying on the beach, but there are many other things to do in, or around, Antalya. I have been on boat trips, and rafting, and I have visited museums and Phaselis. Between those activities I have been strolling around in Kaleici and in the harbour. Both times I stayed in the old town Kaleici, which is a peaceful place with nice atmosphere.
