Go to the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul and make certain you pay the extra money to go to the Treasury where many of the Imperial Ottoman jewels are on display. The emerald-studded dagger made famous by Michael Caine's 70s caper movie, Topkapi, is there.

Topkapi Vs Kremlin
by A TripAdvisor Member
I went to Topkapi Palace last year with my friend, her husband and 2 children , we found the service 5 star we was always looked after and the standards where very high, I have read some negative reviews regarding the animation team , however this was definately not my experience, they worked so hard day and night , never resting and put on fantastic shows , they mingled with guests and I really could not fault them, they made my holiday., and they never complained working in that heat, it was seriously hot!.
The restaurants where great and we had no trouble booking into the restaurants although you do have to get up early and keep pressing re-dial. my least favorite was the fish restaurant but the others fantastic.
I enjoyed my holiday so much that 2 weeks later I flew back out with my boyfriend , however Topkapi was booked so we stayed in the Kremlin.
The rooms in the Kremlin where of a higher standard than Topkapi , but the staff and animation team where alot less friendly , and there did not seem to be that much entertainment, the vibe was totally different.
These hotels are very Russian orientated but we never found this a problem, it actually makes a refreshing change, however the russian cliantele at Kremlin where very rude and would always push in front of you and getting food was a nightmare at Kremlin, my partner would not eat dinner if we had to go to the Buffet bar as it was too stressfull for him, and boy it was a mission! wherby I never had any problems in Topkapi
I loved Topkapi so much that I am taking my recently born son there next year with my stepson and partner, and talked my parents and his parents into coming with us.
So Topkapi wins in my heart and I will keep returning but Kremlin just did not do it for me .

Hotel Overall:
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere which is lovely as you dont have any traffic noise apart from the occasional bus to and from the hotel. Topkapi palace is set on its own long strech of sandy beach with loads of water sports and a number of relaxing hammocks. The pool area is huge and the pools are lovely and well kept, there is a lot of plant life that makes it look that much more attractive, there are a hundreds of sunbeds that you need to get up for (but your on holiday whats the point of sleeping it away), There is a large, spacious and comfortable reception area with its own bar which is open all day and all night. There is a shop but you'd be warned not to shop there as the prices are way over what they should be. There is a large amusements building with free internet, snooker tables, darts boards and much more! There is a large water park area with about 6 slides including a doughnout slide, lazy river and a wave machine.
Maximum All Inclusive:
When they say maximum all inclusive they mean it. There are many bars and restaurants that are open 24hours a day and offer a number of wines, beers and spirits. The food in the restaurants was amazing, the amount of choice was great, in the outside dining area the chefs cooked the food whilst you waited. The waiters/esses were very good at their job and all the tables were clear and tidy, there was a large selections of fresh bread, including naan and pitta bread made to order. There is a seperate childrens eating area with their own buffet and drinks. There are other various cuisine restaurants that you need to book by calling from your hotel room but make sure you ring dead on 9am as these do get booked up very quickly. There is a coffee house with ice cream and cakes, this is located quite far back in the hotel grounds but is worth walking for as you get to find your way round the hotel. The pool bars offer freshly made, iced cocktails, beers spirits and other soft drinks. In the top of the tower there is a champange bar with a range of different champagnes and wines.
Bedrooms and Facilities:
The bedrooms are light and spacious, All rooms have a large bathroom with sink, toilet, shower and bath. Rooms also include dressing table, wardrobe space, tv, mini bar (which is free and restocked daily), there are two arm chairs and a coffee table and a spacious balcony (most overlooking the pools and beach). The hotel has its own hairdressing salon that is included in the price of the holday where you can get a range of fantastic haircuts and colourings. There is a beauty spa where you can have relaxing saunas, body scrubs, tans and massages.
Entertainments:
What can i say the animation team are fantastic. They are working about 20 hours of the day and seem to have a endless supply of energy. They are there when you wake up and and are around the pool all day with different activities and music, They are there when you go out in the evening putting on a show every night in the ampitheatre, They are there when the show has finished doing kareoke and they are even there in the late night nightclub. There is a large hall in the middle of the resort which is the night club, there is a bar and a well trained dj working till 3 in the morning, it is equiped with the latest disco light and dance music (a very good place to spend your evening).
My overall opinion:
World of wonders Topkapi Palace is a place where you get what you pay for and in this case its a fantastic holiday with everything you need in one place. Would i go back again .... Yes of course i would!!
Well, we enjoyed it!
by TripAdvisor Member mooohop
Well, if i had read the some of these reviews before hand i might of been tempted to stay home but.... we have just returned from a vey enjoyable fortnight.
I think its fair to say its not a 5* but in addition I will also say the brochure i had only said '5* expected' whether they got it or not ?!?!?.
We had crappy flight times as is common for Antalya and finally arrived after 3am (departed Manchester 5.45, thanks T.Cook!). The young gentleman on reception Yusuf was really friendly and spoke beautiful english (say hello from me) he explained the neccessary and booked us in with no hassle and we were in our rooms within minutes with our luggage there before we had chance to close the door.
Just a note about reception ... There is a money change facility but they wont give you Euros, only new turkish lira so if you want to work in Euros take them with you.
Also there is no phone to use phonecards to ring home like most hotels only direct dial phone from your rooms which was pretty expensive.
Our first impression was how the hotel was very clean and well kept in all areas. No fag ends, rubbish or overgrown areas.
The food was right enough, we certainly never went hungry. Soup was often nice as was the salad variety. Bread by the bakery full was always fresh. At breakfast their omelettes are lovely. The chips, grilled meats also fresh cooked garlic bread, naan bread, pizza etc. are through the doors at the top right of the main restaraunt not inside with all the other stuff. I didnt have any problem with que jumping cos i didnt see any que, just people wondering back and forth to different counters.
The pools are exceptionally nice, clean, spacious etc. There are a good number of sunbeds but you still have to get up pretty early and i will make no apology for the fact if i cant beat em i will join em! Having pool/beach towels provided was a welcome extra but be warned most Germans/Russians hand in their used towels then send someone for fresh ones the same evening so they have them to put out before the booth even opens at 7am!
The animation team work exceptionally hard and are really pleasant. Their shows are great and a good laugh and with a 15day programme you dont see the same show twice. The hotel brought warmed blankets and hot chocolate to the ampitheatre on chilly evenings. Nice
The shop is MEGA expensive. A box of Pringles and 3 Twix cost the equivalent of £9. Yesterdays newspaper 3 Es, bottle shampoo 8 Es, 4 batteries 11 Es just to give you an idea. (Would be cheaper to pay extra baggage one way):-)
We had pre-booked a late check out room which is only £26 at time of booking but £25 per person with the hotel.
The beach isnt very good really, bit pebbley but once into sea its fine. The hammocks and cushions are cool.
We had a somewhat 'unfortunate incident' NOT the hotels fault. The night manager and guest relations manager were absolutely FANTASTIC no buts. They really came up trumps when it mattered and couldnt do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble.
The British are certainly in the minority at this hotel its mainly Russian, German, Dutch and Israelis (sp) but where the Turkish are concerned generally speaking if you can be accepting of a different culture and way of life, with people that dont have 'our' sense of humour or friendliness, beyond the icy exterior the staff were pretty nice people. The majority speak 'some' english. How much Turkish can you speak????
If you havent already done so before you book this hotel, consider what you really want? If its to go out clubbing, walking, socialising, sightseeing then its not the place for you, its a fair way to anywhere. On the other hand if you want to just CHILL as we did this time but have a bit of entertainment on then yeah its great!!!

Excellent Resort, Food And Drink Not The Best
by TripAdvisor Member MarkHustwit
Extremely impressive resort, the pools, rooms and service are excellent!
DO NOT DRINK THE ICE!!!!! The ice is made from their local water and loads of people got upset stomachs!
The food and drink let it down! The choice of food is excellent however it is very boring and catered mainly for the Germans and Russians! Believe me the British are totally out numbered but everyone is friendly enough.
I played football and there was a fight two days running between the germans and the turks - highly amusing!!
The water park is awesome, we spent many hours behaving like children running round and around to get on the slides for that "one last go"!
Generally good value for money, however European all-inclusive will never match the standards of the Carribean.
Out of all the restaurants, in my opinion the Italian is by far the best, it helps that the Wine served here is actually drinkable!
absolutely fantastic

me and my friend travelled to this hotel in june. It was very hot and got hotter as the week went on. the hotel as everyone says is out of the way but you wouldnt want to leave the hotel anyway. it was the best holiday we have been on by far. yes the british are out numbered but this doesnt cause any problems. the staff love the british as they say they are the nicest people as they think germans and russians are rude. they jump to your every command and cant do enough to help you. rooms are lovely and the hotel is out of this world. lots to do during the day and plenty of places to eat. Night time entertainment was a bit boring untill the night club opened but didnt matter. we were very sad to leave and should have stayed for 2 weeks. if you get the chance take the bus to antalya then a taxi to beach park. it was the best night out ever. just a strip of beach full of open night clubs and entertainment. exellent. we will be going again. if you are looking for a 5 * hotel and more go here. book without delay you wont regret it.

Hi Sharon,
I've never been in this hotel but I know it exists because Polish travel agency has it in its offer. It's in Aksu, 20 km from the centre of Antalya. The web site is only in Polish but you can take a look at some pics there http://www.jettouristic.pl/JET/topkapi/topkapi.php
