We have been in Olympos

"Surprise"

We didn't prepared at all that trip and this is mainly why the surprise was total.
We were struggling driving on a narrow road for about 15-20 kilometers in our way down to the sea.
We knew more about the beach at Cirali than about the city itself. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed when we have reached the end of the road.
My wife was completely disappointed and we were planning to go back in the "controlled atmosphere" of our car. The temperature was about 39 degrees Celsius and we couldn’t see any reason to remain there.
Just forcing a bit the note I have convinced them to take a walk where all the others were going.

"The road through Olimpos"

The shadow of those ancient walls was more than welcomed... I am sure that a lot of people have considered the same 2300 years ago.

"Water supply"

This is the spring which used to supply the entire city with water more than 2000 years ago... They were using a kind of aqueduct, a bit different of what we used to see. Interesting anyway...

"Is this a worship place?"

I don't know why Mithra is "shouting" in my mind standing near that place...

"How some members are documenting their pages?!"

I was surprised to see that all the pages here on VT were copied and pasted from that "poster"...
I was very interested about the name of Antimachos but I couldn't find too much.

"Northern gate.."

As you can see here, the city was very well protected by the natural position. It was easy to defend it from any attack coming from North.
On South, the entrance is narrowed again and I don’t understand how the city could be conquered so many times having such a privileged geographical position…

"Suddenly..."

The road has opened to the nice golf surrounded by flowers and to the lovely Ciraly beach …amazing

Three km long beach with clear waters and a lot of people enjoying the fresh waters and the finger long fish "cleaning" swimmer's skin with soft bites… Our four years old son was so amazed…
