Snake and Mouse Island
by sandysmith
Just offshore from Kalkan are two small island in the bay - Snake and Mouse Island - the boat trips tend to sail around or near these islands. We sailed up to Snake island and were fascinated with the way goats clung to the rock face here, gradually picking their way along the sheer cliff face - how they didn't slip I'll never know.
Water sports in Kalkan
by Diana75
As many of Turkey's town located on the south coast, Kalkan is a popular place for scuba diving due to its crystal clear waters.
Here are several dive sites including islands and reefs with a great variety of marine life.
Beside this, a day river canoeing can be also an interesting experience.
A ride along the nearby Xanthos river will end in Patara beach.
On the beach numerous clubs water sports offer numerous opportunities for jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing, Ringo and Banana.
"BEACH HOUSE" CHIC
by kalkangal about COAST
Coast restaurant is the most unique restaurant in Kalkan, it crosses the bridge between Asian and European foods by taking you through a historical journey from old Turkish dishes based on recipes from the 17th Century to new Pan Asian foods. It has a contemporary "beach house" feel with use of colours and textures from the coastline. A fabulous rooftop terrace with unobscured views of the bay and harbour just adds to the dining experience. The best cocktails served in town. And staff that are welcoming and informal but not over zealous. Gosh hard to say as I have gone back there several times... I think the White Fish with Coconut milk, Lime and Coriander. It was so light and fragranced. But then I loved the Harem Sultan whch is from their "Forgotten Turkish " marinated lamb served on a bed of creamy mashed aubergine. Salad range is fabulous too.
One of the best

We ate here a couple of times and came back on our last night. The service is friendly and the food is excellent. We booked a table on the side of the restaurant nearest the sea and it was fun
watching all the comings and goings.
We had booked a table one night but couldn't come because I was unwell. As we were staying very close to the old town my husband walked down and explained why we wouldn't be there, and re-booked for the following night. When we turned up the next day I was asked if I
was feeling better even though they must have had dozens of people in there. It really is a mark of the attentive service that you get at this restaurant.
We also had morning coffee there a few times and just watched the world go by, and they were always kind enough to put the fan on for us because it was so hot. Ottaman leg of lamb - very tender.
Kaputas beach
by Diana75
When we have discovered Kaputas Beach we had no idea that this is already a famous place.
But how couldn't be with the water that always has a brilliant turquoise color?
Kaputas Beach is at about 10 minutes from Kalkan, on the road that goes to Myra and you cannot be other then impressed when this gorgeous small sandy beach opens suddenly at the foot of a striking mountain gorge.
The beach is not too crowded but it opens practically in a bend of the road and everybody stops at least to admire this marvelous scenery, it's difficult to find a parking place, especially if you go by bus.
In any case, Kaputas beach shouldn't be missed!
