Pirat Hotel

The Hotel Pirat is located right at the bottom of the hill in Kalkan close to the harbour and waterfront . It’s worth requesting a room with a sea view: the panaramic view from our room was superb. Another useful point to bear in mind is that the hotel is comprised of two blocks; an older original block and a newer block across the road where the swimming pools and restaurant are, the newer block is definitely superior. The trade-off from being so conveniently located is that some sound carries from the nearby disco bars as well as from other guests if the room above you is occupied.

Rooms at the Pirat are basic but comfortable with air-conditioning. There is no lift in the newer block and a lot of steps so not a good choice for anyone with mobility problems but then neither is Kalkan itself which is built on a very steep hill.

Food is passable but not spectacular and after a week the rather limited breakfast (omelettes and fresh orange juice are charge as extras here) and dinner complete with sugary 1970’s style desserts did get a bit tiresome, plenty of salad options available though.

Unique Quality: The best features of the Hotel Pirat are its sea views, pool and convenient location in Kalkan.
