Palm Beach Club
by sandysmith
We only got around to one beach club and the one we chose was Palm Beach Club. Reached by a free taxi boat (5 min journey) to the left hand side of the bay of Kalkan is this relaxing spot of paradise. We saw pictures of it at the harbour and the decking and cosy Turkish corner seating areas on the grass looked a bit more inviting and varied than just concrete. It was great choice, not overcrowded, steps into the sea as opposed to steep ladders, a small pebbly beach if you wanted shallower water for snorkelling, excellent service and really good facilities and food at the restaurant on the upper level. Just one note the water was a bit cooler here due to natural springs - one minuting swimming in warm water , the next a cold bit! Cost wise for beds and food for lunch it was about the same as getting a dolmus out to Patara beach and spending the day there. Lovely to have the variety. A really relaxing day spent here on the sunbeds, reading our books, overlooking the sea and a great view back to Kalkan. Just a great chill out day
Demre diving.

Not in Kalkan, obviously but put it here as there look to be some great dive sites there and there is no page for Demre itself.Sorry the page is only in Turkish.
Click on Dalis noktalari for the map of dive sites.
Don't miss the Mediterranean Lamb!
by Debbiehyne about TRIO
Have just returned frrom an Easter holiday in Kalkan. This is a new restaurant right on the harbour front with lovely views of the marina.
The menu was really extensive with good choices for my vegetarian friend. I had the mixed mezze followed by the Mediterranean Lamb - it was fabulous. Service was very good - efficient but not obtrusive. The decor was very tasteful with a chocolate brown and cream colour scheme. Ambience was very relaxing - good music playing in the background whilst we were there - jazz and african chill out . There is a seperate bar so it was nice to have a cocktail watching the sun set before we sat down for our dinner. If you are visiting Kalkan this place is worth a visit Mediterranean lamb - fresh, tender, tasty and beautifully presented. I enjoyed every mouthful. Fresh fish was good as well so were the prawns cooked with garlic

Great landscape
by Diana75
If you driving from Kalkan to Myra for the first time you have no idea what impressive landscape will open in front of you just 4 km away of Kalkan.
After a bend you find yourself in front of this wonderful view of the mountain, with the two cliffs which opens in a wonderful bay with the magnificent Kaputas beach.
