ATMs are everywhere in Turkey. And everybody takes credit cards. We used cards most of the time. Some banks don't take American Visa cards, but there is always another ATM in close proximity that takes anything. Some stores don't have the machine for card transactions, but they will walk with you to their friends store who has one. :-)
We even lost our cards on a beach parking lot and they were brought to us before we knew we were missing them.

Travel Tips for Kalkan
Kalkan Beach
by sandysmith
Kalkan does have its own beach, albeit small and mainly shingle - to be honest it was better than I expected and intended to spend a day here but never made it with all the other activites. Didn't seem to get overcrowded, plenty of eateries nearby and a good place to watch the boats come and go from the nearby harbour. The beach tends to shelve a bit steepishly into the sea so you are not walking on the shingle for long. The water was lovely and warm at the end of Sept/early Oct.
Patara Diving School.

Kemal was a great host and the sea just by the hotel is great for starting to learn as there are hundreds of fish, who usually choose to follow you.
Below are some pictures from this year. Patara Diving School. All equipment supplied,CMAS courses, discovery dives(excellent for children age 10 or above).
Heavenly food for good prices!
by A84 about Turkuaz restaurant
This is a new restaurant in Kalkan and although there are so many restaurants already: this one is special.
The owner is a young Turkish man, whose girlfriend is Dutch. A lovely young couple, very nervous about their new business, but so far they are doing fine. They will welcome you in a very relaxed atmosphere. The chef is absolutely brilliant, their Turkish dishes are heavenly, you should try at least one during your stay in Kalkan.
Apart from all this you will be stunned about the view you have from the roof terrace of this restaurant on the bay and harbour of Kalkan, it's wonderful. If you're cold: don't worry, there's a dining room on the second floor as well.
If you would like to know anything about trips or other things in Kalkan and the area, aks the owner, he's been working in Patara for 12 years and knows all the nice spots! I wouldn't know which of the starters to call my favourite, so my solution: try the hors déuvre, you'll get a good mix of what they have.
For a main course: my absolute favourite is the Beyti Kebab, a very spicy piece of grilled kebab with a yoghurtsauce on the top. A good second: the mixed grill.
The prettiest looking.
by Tdiver about Gironda.
Situated at the top of the main and i use it loosely, street up from the harbour,it looks a picture and has great views from the roof.Probably the most expensive of the restaurants in town but not by much and well worth it.
Kaputas Beach
by ann500
This beach is a truly glorious place, located at the foot of a gorge, with high cliffs above you. Luckily, it's just a short distance, perhaps 10 minutes away on a dolmus (shared minibus - inexpensive) and they leave often from Kalkan.
The water is always a gorgeous turquoise blue. If you go early in the morning, often the beach is empty or there are only a few people. This is the beach often seen in travel brochures about Turkey, but it never gets too crowded. There is umbrella rental for a small fee and a few enterprising people walk around selling snacks and cold drinks. Catch a dolmus coming back from Kas, they come often, to get back to Kalkan.
If you have a walking problem, be aware that you do have to climb down quite a few steps. It is worth it if you don't.
