A Day on a Gulet
by peterdhduncan
We regard a day on a gulet as an essential part of any holiday on the Turkish coast. As well as some sailing along the coast, it includes swimming off the boat, an excellent meal and plenty of relaxing on mattresses on the deck. Altogether, a very enjoyable day.
Amphitheatre Antiphelos
by purplekedi
It's just a great feeling to climb to the top of this ancient amphitheatre, bulit by the Lycians who had been the around 4th century B.C.. you have such a beautiful view of Kas, Meis aka Costellorizzo and the Mediterranean. It just feels high!
You will find detailed information regarding the history at the website below.
Patara beach and ruins.
by Tdiver
2 things in 1 visit an archaeological site and the great beach all in a day.1 of the 6 most important cities in ancient Lycia.Triumphal arch built by roman governor Mettius Modestus in 100A.D. granaries,a temple, baths,Byzantine basilica, baths of Vespian, theatre, acropolis and a cistern.Good view of beach from the acropolis hill.At end of road leave car, 1km walk to beach, umbrellas, beach mats and drinks available, beach stretches 20km westwards.
As you can see by the photographs underneath, they've been busy unearthing the ruins over the 13 years between my visits. The walk to the Amphitheatre was originally across the fields, now there is a very dusty road.Notice the line on the foreground stonework on the 2005 photo as to where the sand had buried the amphitheatre.
Paradise Found - Kas, Turkey
by DivePrincess
"Why Kas?"
I knew not what to expect upon my arrival in this 'little fishing village,' two hours southwest of Antalya, Turkey. I booked my trip after falling in love with the accommodations, two weeks in a beautiful villa with infinity pool overlooking the Turkish coastline. That was all it took to get me to Kas. Before booking my villa, I knew nothing of what to expect nor did I care. My purpose for my travels this year was solely 'vacation,' not adventure, not cultural enlightenment, not diving - just relaxing, leaving it all behind. It had been three years since my last trip abroad and the same amount of time since I've had the opportunity to leave the office. Therefore, it was far overdue.
AFTER booking my villa, I did the research.
