HIKE AND EXPLORE
by FAIRYCHIMNEY
Kas has got lots to offer in terms of natural activities.Take a day for hiking around if the weather is not too hot.Early May is perfect.Even though Phellos is quite close, there is no wallmarks like the rest of the Lycian Way.For this reason, its better to join a group activity.View is amazing from the top. There is no sign of Kas, while you are viewing wonderful Greek island Meis.It is really worth to take a day out.
Ampitheater
by mikelisaanna
There is a small Roman ampitheater near the road as you leave the town of Kas and enter the peninsula where many of the hotels are located. It is much smaller than many of the other ampitheater ruins in Turkey, but is one of the few surviving historical sites in Kas.
Decode Ancient Lycian Secrets
by Jetgirly
Located not to far from Kas, Xanthos (well, Xanthos-Letoon, technically) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famed for its multi-lingual inscriptions, studies of tri-lingual texts found at Xanthos have been instrumental in helping modern researchers understand early languages along the Turkish Coast. When we arrived at the site it was virtually empty- it felt like we had the entire ancient town to ourselves. Some people from our group opted to hear a presentation about the site's history while sitting in the huge amphitheater, but I opted not to as I wanted to stay in shadier areas. Instead I examined some ruins, imagined what their inscriptions might read, and watched as lizards crawled over crumbling relics. As with other sun-drenched archeological sites in Turkey, I strongly encourage you to wear a hat, use sunscreen and bring water. I visited through a tour with the company "Xanthos Tours"- I would encourage others to consider this company when visiting the site.
Myra.

Lycian tombs and a great Amphitheatre.
About an hour down the road from Kas.Lots of greenhouses give it away that your nearing it.
When i first came here in 1992 you could look into all the tombs, now most are fenced off.
There were also no cafes nearby but now after you've walked around the site, it's nice to relax and cool off before you move on.
I chose Kas over Kalkan

"Small picturesque town with Lycian tombs"
I did some extensive reading on coastal Turkey and considered stopping in a few towns in between my travels from Bodrum to Antalya. I chose Kas for its Lycian tombs + since it's small and seems managable. It is also a base for sea kayaking which I wanted to do to satisfy my love of sports and adventure. I prebooked the small hotel, Hotel Medusa and found it in no time. It's not luxurious but it has a small pool and good views. Brakfast is served in the mornings. We took in some ocean views and walked across the street to the 'beach area' which is really an outlook on a flat rock with the choppy sea about 5 feet below. Firat swam but I was too intimidated by the choppy sea and the lack of sandy beach. I was content in getting some sun and sea breeze by the rocks facing the sea. That night we explored the small town with many German tourist and went to an al fresco dinner nearby.
"view from one of the cliffside tombs"
This was atop the village of Kas, a short hike away.
