Travel Tips for Kas

Mavi Diving

by MalenaN

Kas is said to have the best diving in Turkey. Well, it is not the Red Sea but have some nice diving spots. I only made three dives and saw trumpet fishes, big groupers, tubeworms, fire worms cucumbers etc. There were also some broken amphora and caves.
I dived with Mavi diving which is a German diving centre with mostly German divers. Once a week they make daytrips, otherwise one dive in the morning and one again in the afternoon. Their boat is very well equipped. Once a week they also make a BBQ for divers.

Can't say much about the choice of name but the food was lovely. Not many tables so get there early or reserve. Unsure about the choice of a large Duck outside, which obviously someone had worn.
2 Person menu was only 39 Ytl. We had a mixture of dishes and all were good.

Get Dirty

by Jetgirly

I started Summer 2010 a mud-bath virgin. By the end of the summer, I was an old pro. My first experience with a mud bath was on a trip departing from Kas. Our Jeep stopped at a stream midway between Saklikent Gorge and Xanthos, where locals and tourists alike go to slather their bodies in mud, bake in the sun, and then rinse it all off in the icy-cool mountain stream. I was initially pretty hesitant (you can tell from the photo that my mud application was pretty half-hearted) and I think I found mud in unexpected places in the shower for the following three days, but I definitely noticed that it made my skin soft and silky! If you get the chance, get dirty in Turkey!

Kaputas Beach

by Melisin

There is a small but beautiful sandy beach about 10 km. to Kas. It is a "must" if you are in Kas. If you are lucky enough you may swim with the sea turtles:) The water has an amazing turquoise color. Kaputas Beach is in the middle of Kalkan and Kas.

Kas

by mikelisaanna

Kas is a resort town on Turkey's southern Mediterranean coast. It formerly was a small fishing town, but has grown into a resort town with the addition of dozens of hotels and apartment buildings up the hillsides behind the town and along the nearby peninsula that juts into the sea. Kas has perhaps the most spectacular scenery of any Turkish resort, since the coast at Kas consists of mountains coming right down to the sea. The downside to that rugged coast is that Kas has less true beach than most resort towns (our hotel had a swimming platform instead) and that Kas is tougher to get to than many of Turkey's tourist towns. To reach Kas, you have to come by boat or drive along a coastal road full of turns and cliffs(stay alert - you don't want to drive over this side). The drive, however, is half the fun of coming to Kas. It is one of the more scenic drives in Turkey, with rugged coastal scenery that is better than its famous USA counterpart, Route 1 in California.
