Don't pay over $25 USD !!

I wound up here as many do through an unscrupulous travel agent in Istanbul who charged me $80 USD per night to stay here. The walk up rate is less than $25 USD for this place, and that is about what it is worth. Nothing against Bayrams for $20 a night it's OK, but for $80 a night it's hard not to get angry and stay that way.

There are 3 types of rooms, tree-houses, bungalows, and dorms. The namesake tree-houses are the worst, dirty and constructed from scraps of scraps. The bungalows are not too bad, and the dorms are just like any other dorm.

Unique Quality: The common area is very relaxing, and social, with a predominately young backpacker crowd. Beverages cost $12 for a cocktail, $6 for a beer B.Y.O.B. is forbidden. Two basic meals are provided, which weren't half bad. There is a nice small beach about 1 km from Bayrams. There is an $3 entrance fee charged by the Turkish government to access it however.

Bayrams

Truly amazing hostel. It's really to the Olympos ruins and beach. It was a great place to relax for a while after a long time on the road. I particularly enjoyed the food. Breakfast and dinner were included in the price. The chef here is a true genius. I would return just to eat his food again. As well as a large common area with hammocks there is a bar on site. The shower / toilet block was clean and well maintained, with hot water 24 hours.

My favourite treehouse in Olympus

I made the right choice when I chose to stay at Bayrams Treehouses in Olympos Turkey. The first set of treehouses you come to when approaching the village of Olympos is on your left as you cross the bridge is Fakirs Treehouse. Its the oldest and I think the first one to start the trend and so is better known than the rest but this doesnt necessarily mean it is the best one to stay at. I followed the rule of asking Turkish people who visit which has the best food etc and thats where Bayrams wins hands down. Its quite a way further down the road but this also means its closer to the beach, in fact only a very short walk and you have reached the beautiful waters of the bay. Bayrams is a small family run establishment that has excellent home style meals in the form of a 5 course Turkish buffet. Mostly vegetarian with fish or chicken alternating on different nights. More than you can eat I assure you. I made the mistake of having a trout for lunch on my first day there and was presented with this huge trout, a giant bowl of salad, a large bread basket full of fresh hot turkish bread for AUD$4.
I struggled through this delicious meal but come dinner time I had no room left to eat so after that I learnt to only eat a piece of local fruit for lunch so I had room for food at night. A short walk from Bayrams and you can buy local fruit such as Pommegranite or oranges.

Unique Quality: Loved sleeping in the treehouse which took me back to my childhood days in New Zealand where I had built a treehouse in our neighbours old plum tree and we used to sleep out in it during summer school holidays. All up, my cosy accommodation and food cost me AUD$15 a day so excellent value for money. No wonder I stayed so long and didnt want to leave. And yes I did put on weight!
