pelikan apart hotel or as its now called Sunbird Apart hotel has very basic rooms (therefore i would call it a budget holliday base) we were self catering and the kitchenette had a sink, fridge, 2 ring plug in cooker top and kettle. i hired a toaster for the week at about £10. the air conditioning cost about £35 for the week, but well worth it! the 1 bedroom appartment had twin beds, very small bathroom and the usual sofa bed in the main room/kitchen area with coloured tv. rooms were serviced every day. pool area and pool cleaned every evening. the restaurant/bar also has a roof top dinning area. all staff very friendly and genuine. service from the staff was excellant, nothing was a problem for them, and most of them speak good English. Small shop attached to the reception, but plenty of shops on the main street just 2 minutes around the corner. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very good. as this isn't a big hotel there are plenty of beds and umbrellas available at any time of the day there is a small kids/toddlers pool and a larger pool only 4.1m deep, which is good as most of the older kids can still stand in it, the pools are never crowded, and the pool area itself is very peaceful as there is a free bus that collects you in the morning to take you to the beach (which most guests seem to do or they make their own way to the local beach about 15 mins walk away) and returns you again in the afternoon, with 3 different pick up times going and 2 different times coming home. free beds and umbrellas provided. from the beach you can take a 5 minute walk through some of the historical ruins straight into Side town and harbour.
I would recommend this hotel as a budget holiday base and would consider returning again, the kids have already been asking to go back next year as they loved it.
Unique Quality: the staff were excellant, as i have already said, nothing seemed a problem for them, if you required anything or needed anything done it was. from the housemaids to the reception staff, and the bar/restaurant staff, nightporters and even the maintance guys, all thumbs up to them. Christine who looks after the guests was also very good, she was always about and would not pass without asking is everything ok, or did we need anything, give us tips on where or what to do in the area etc, etc
the staff make this hotel very welcoming and as 1 member of the waiting team said, it was our home for the week therefore we were all family and thats the way they had to treat us.
