Side has loads of histrorical interests with a anceint city surrounding the town which was destroyed by an earth quake 900 yrs ago
lots of really good resturants all very eager to please and resonably priced

"Side"

We visited here in September 2007 believing the temperature would be a max of around 28c. Unfortunatley it was well into the 30s. I dont like it that hot so didnt do too much at all. That said, the restaurants we visited were all extremely well run and the food was excellent. Alim's restaurant and Address restaurant were 2 highlights of the stay.

"Side"

Side town is located to the east of Antalya about 65kms and about 1 hours drive by car.
The resort area itself is very spread out and in length is probably 15kms long. I found the resort itself a little untidy and quite spread out with the hotels just seemed to be put anywhere although there are hotels to suit most budgets.
The old town of Side (which is in the middle of the resort area) on the other hand is very different with resturants, shops and nice views. Also here are a few ruins and the harbour
On both sides of the old town are reasonable beaches which don't get too crowded

"Life in Side"

I've lived in Side for 5 months since April 05. It is a bit surrealistic living here - ruins out my front window, shirt shops all around, tourists coming and going, friendly locals, up all night drinking at the pub or dancing at the disco, beautiful beaches, good food.

"Bars"

Prices vary extremely from place to place - beers often 3 lira at resteraunts and smaller bars, coctails 8 - 10 lira at similar places. Discos and some resteraunts often charge twice that price. 1 lira -$ .75
Recommend - Kiss Bar for fun, a couple crazy brothers run the place, reasonable prices and Mehmets just above the small beach for a quiet or romantic evening with good blues music in the background. Discos - Stones is not quite as expensive as the others, people have told me that at Baracuda they have lost both an arm and a leg. Apollo and the Lighthouse are the hips places so expect to pay the price

"Food"

Prices vary extremely from place to place. Ece Restestaunt is great and very reasonable as is Ogur Lokanta, Trio's is very good and reasonable also. Ocakbasi is a favorite of many friends of mine and also reasonable. Picnik is very cheap and the food is fine but not huge portions. You can easily pay double at places along the main road and along the harbor and really the food is the same. Sound Waves or Beach House (I forget), looks like a pirate ship near Side beach. Prices aren't bad, sometimes they have specials like stir fried chicken for 10 lira.
