Trojan Odyssey

by caroline1987

Hi.
We'll be staying in Kusadasi in a oouple of weeks and we are really keen to visit Troy. I realise that it's a long way from Kusadasi but we're prepared for a long journey: I was just wondering- is the best way to hire a car or is there any public transport that travels to that area?
Many thanks,

Caroline

Made the trip by bus but not straitforward bus to Selcuk, then to Izmir, then Canakkale, then local dolmus to site.
I think car is a lot easier and quicker. Road map (big 1) on my pages, with distances.

The distance between Kusadasi - to Troy (We say Truva)at the city of Çanakkale is sirca 450 km 7-8 hours. The bus trip takes lots of waste minutes. The bus stops at evry city for getting new pasengers. Better hire a car. You can rest a night at Canakkale. The next day you can visit the 1915-16 war fields and memorials of Gallipoli on European side.
The public transport is in Turkey is bus. There are many bus companies in Kusadasi travelling to Canakkale. Just ask yor horel clerc in Kusadasi.
Have a nice time in Turkey.

I dont have much against Truva. But I heard that it is a very turistic and often crowded place with very little to see. If you have time I would recomend you to visit Bergama and the ruins of Pergamon just abowe the town.

I love trvelling in Turkey. I ve been there twice in last two years and if I had time I would go there right now.

Just remember the spell sentence "Turkey chok guizel!" turkey is beautiful, which is very true...

have a nice time there.

Kusadasi harbour.

by Monique_T

In kusadasi you should visit the harbour as it is really nice. You can book everywhere, also on the streets, a trip on a boat. I recommend that as it is great to do. Watch the sun though as you easily burn on a boat. You sail for quite some time, then they stop somewhere and you can go for a swim. Food is included and at the end of the day you go back to the harbour. Just a nice day at sea.

KUSADASI

by Ivana5

* From those 3 towns (Marmaris, Bodrum and Kusadasi) I saw the least from Kusadasi – and that is why I can’t be objective, and tell something more about it (see my Turkey intro for more information - explanation - Turkey ). During those 2 days we had to see so many hotels, and our hotel was far from center of town, so we have spent evening in our own hotel, and not walking around the town.
