terrıble place to stay

by A TripAdvisor Member

I am stıll ın thıs place and all that has happened ıs all entertaınment has been cancelled every nıght. Noone wants to help you. I have 2 small chıldren and at thıs very moment ın tıme ı am arguıng to get a room for us to stay before we get pıcked up to come home. There ıs nothıng for the young chıldren to do unless you pay 5 lıre every half hour ın the games room. I found a handful of staff who wanted to help and who are fantıstıc. We are ın a group of 34 people and the majorıty of people have not enjoyed there stay. all we have had to do ıs complaın. we have been out most nıghts as the entertaınment ıs terrıble. The rooms are full of ants and you even have to buy your own toılet roll. (Thıs has never happened abroad). the people who wrıte good stuff about thıs hotel are probably regulars. I would strongley reccomend you fınd somewhere else to stay.

Pervert Alert!

by TripAdvisor Member Vixred

I came to stay at the Esra with my Mum for a last minute holiday. Do not get me wrong the apartments were lovely but the staff were something else! I know Turkish people are friendly i have been to Turkey numerous times, but here i felt like i walked into a smutty holiday camp! I had to ensure sexual comments and gesticulations on a daily basis - i was to scared to walk hrough the lobby without my mum -and i am 24! Most of the staff were fine, especially the lad who works in the shop and the barman - they were just normal Turkey friendly! I dont know names, but some of the men that worked around the pool area were something else, the way they acted around not only women, but young girls was disgraceful with comments, touching, petting. i am in know way a prude but when you have families there - come on! Being 24 or not 24, there is no way when i am sat sunbathing with my mum do i want comments such as "I would like to touch all over", "next time i see you by yourself, you will be mine" I am not joking, one even said i must be asking for comments by having blonde hair! Its a real shame because the apartments are really nice, and so is Altinkum town. If you are a young girl or you want some peace and quiet i recommend you go to the 3rd Beach in the free courtesy bus thats comes outside the hotel (the one with the fish on it!) It takes you to a lovely beach, and the bar that operates it is lovely, nice food and they give you mats to put on your sunbed!

10/10 For the Esra

by TripAdvisor Member CAFEBAR

We were a big family staying at this hotel and we couldnt of asked for a better place to stay. the staff were outstanding, theres nothing thay couldnt or would do for you, thay were happy and funny all day, and thay worked hard. Simon the manager was very nice, also joe, alex, tony, alley to name just a few of the staff. we loved it so much that we plan to return in October 2006. every one at the esra are now our friends. there was plenty to do for the kids we had a 15, 12, 9, 13 yrs old with us and it was tears all round when it was time to leave. so 10/10 for this hotel, a must for all the family

Absolutely Fantastic!!!

by TripAdvisor Member xxHayleyxx

Came back last week and the following day we were in travel agents booking our return trip in 6 weeks time! Everyone at the hotel was fantastic and a great laugh! No matter how your feeling in the morning the staff are guarenteed to brighten up your day! we went as 2 families and all recieved nicknames off the staff! Spent a lot of time with the staff including a 3am footy match England v Turkey (great fake England shirts out ther) as well as water polo and a Tug of War! Missing every1 loads Tony, Alex, Jack, Ali Baby, Joseph (Big Joe),Chris, Ozzy, Micheal, Jason, Moses, Ally, Junior, Memet (turkish bath), memet (Burak manager), Antonio, Simon (Slide Time), Selim (Photographer), The slide time man (duno his name but "shut up and go"), steve (chef), memet (kitchen) cant wait til septemba! Tony and his chinese breakfast and "Hands up" were just fun!
The rooms were very well cared for, after being put into a small room and befriending moses, Junior and ally we were upgraded to a larger room with a big balcony!!!
The food was great and was at a reasonable price although as we left Ali was altering the prices so that might not be the case now!
Cheers bar provided the best entertainment at night with the dancing and music, definately a must go 2!
Love every1 at the Esra

Brilliant Holiday

by TripAdvisor Member holidaysunited

Well we have just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at the ESRA. This is a brilliant hotel and the staff are wonderful ( alex, jack, Ali and Tony who sadly left while we were there). from doing everyting to waiters, pool cleaners and the evening entertainers.
There was no kids club this year for some reason, but we still hardly saw our children as there are 2 lovely pools one with 3 waterslides open for 3 hours every day, and lots of other english children who they played pool with and went on the internet, also free at the SKY bar across the road. There is something going on nearly everynight from turkish night to BBQ nights. we went to both and had a great time. We also has a turkish bath when we arrived done either by big John or Memmet for 30 lira (bargain as very relaxing and helps you get a better tan). The rooms are large and clean and towels cleaned regularly. The food is nice and very cheap. We would definately return to this hotel, it is great. Hope this helps if your travelling in the next few weeks ( jelous)

Fantastic place to stay!

by TripAdvisor Member Kristy-Rose

Brilliant place!!! Cant say nothing else apart from brilliant!! The whole hotel is fantastic, clean, big, fun and plenty to do. There are 3 great slides for young children to go on and 2 great sized pools.

The staff are amazing, they are what make the hotel so good. They are friendly and are always around to make you laugh! They all have their own little charms, a BIG hello to Ali my little angle, Alex, Simon, Micheal, Jack, Quiet boy, Steve, Chris, Ozzy and all the rest of you!!!! Missing you loads and loads!

The town is only a 5min walk and it has everything... night life is AMAZING! i was out till early mornings! I would definitly recommend this hotel....Its brilliant!

Great Holiday, on my way back September

by TripAdvisor Member Ann4Den

Stayed at the ESRA back in May and had a really nice holiday. The staff were great, friendly, well mannered and always happy to help.
The place was very clean, both pools and poolsides were kept clean and the staff were always about to entertain. It was my 6th time in Turkey but my first time in Altinkum, out of all of my holidays this one was the best so much so that we are booked up again for September and Yes....we are staying at the ESRA !!

Kusadasi versus Marmaris, Bodrum?

by RoxannaS.

Hello. Im trying to make up my mind where to holiday this summer and i was thinking about Kusadasi. Can u please tell me , what is it like, how is the nightlife there ? Is is better or likely Bodrum, Marmaris (ive been in this last 2 so i know what is about).
Antalya is beautiful too im sure, as it is bigger but its more attractive then Kusadasi?
Tks

None of the above!!

Re: Kusadasi versus Marmaris, Bodrum?

by Camiliaa

hi...
antlya is bigger than kusadasi. there are disco and bars, but i prefere alanya. its 2 hours away from antalya and there are buses all the time that drives between these two cities. you can read about some of the discos in alanya at my travel site.

and... there are no good beaches in antalya.. then you have to take the busout of antalya. in alanya there are the kleopatra beach, which is really really nice ;o)

I would agree with Matt, but if you are looking for nightlife I would say Kusadasi can give you the same as Marmaris and Bodrum. there are lots of bars and discos there too, open until breakfast time it seems

Pennie, see you like a lot of the places I do.... Cirali, Assos..... have you tried the Kure National park? I reckon you'll love that too!!!

Re: Re: Kusadasi versus Marmaris, Bodrum?

by MattTB

Kure Mountains National Park even!!!

Going back to the original question.... my guess would be all of the above have good nightlife!!! Are you interested in anything else?

There is a place called Hisaronu near Olu Deniz (near Fetiye) that was good for nightlife back in '97! Didn't think it was a beautiful place to stay in tho. Also majority of tourists were from England. For me a negative point, but you may have other ideas!

To all who have the plan of visitin Kusadasi, Marmaris or any place in Turkey...Considering messy crowd in high season, Please pay more attention to environmental protection, keeping the coasts and lands clean. Tourism is not only to get pleasure using the power of money but also to have responsibiliy of sharing the cultural wealth, respecting the others and nature in all places other then homeland...Enjoy your holidays...

by Sonny26

Kusadasi of course ...close to everywhere ...Ephesus ...Bodrum ...Didim and izmir national airport ...you can get these places in an hour ( max) and kusadasi has a great night life

RE: Kusadasi versus Marmaris, Bodrum?

by frac38

Nightlife in Kusadasi is on par with Bodrum etc,but from experience i would head for Alanya. It's a bigger town with better nightlife, two beautiful beaches and i found it cheaper than most resorts in turkey. There is a huge bazaar that comes to life every night that is situated in the town centre.
Have a happy holiday
