More about Fantasia Hotel De Luxe Kusadasi
After our roundtrip we stayed in Kusadasi for one week. The hotel we stayed in, Fant sia, is probably the best hotel in this beach town. The food is excellent: extremely wide offerings at breakfast and great dinners. There is a small health club and there are three large pools. Little vans or busses will take you to the centre of Kusadasi.
Wonderful luxury family hotel
we stayed in this hotel in 2008. It has a wonderful grand entrance and was very luxurious. All the rooms were recently refurbished with incredibly comfortable beds and lovely decor! - shower was fantastic! (as a girl with very long hair this is the first thing I check out in a hotel!) and was actually nice to have carpet as oh so often it is tiled.
The air conditioning worked a charm and there are balconies with partial sea views (all the balcony rooms are down the 2 sides of the hotel - not the rooms sea facing!)
Restaurant quality was good, but they could have done with a few more restaurants to choose from - AI for a week it gets a little boring.
Staff here were lovely - nothing too much trouble for you - remember folks these people do long hours and work incredibly hard for their money, always with a smile on their face. luxurious bedrooms, fabulous food and brilliant staff -the cocktail list is rather good too!
we stayed at the hotel fantasia for 2 weeks in june 2006,(we are a couple age 29 and 30 with 2 daughters aged 18 mths and 4 years)
First impressions of the hotel were great as you are let in past the security gates,We arrived at approx 1am and were greeted by a really friendly bell boy who took our cases straight away.As we checked in a waiter brought ice cold drinks and insisted on holding our sleeping 18 month old (one of the things that really stood out to us during our holiday is how much the turks love kids and they are so genuine with it..If youre British it might take you by surprise at first but go with the flow, you'll soon get used to shopkeepers, waiters etc coming over to make a fuss of the kids!).We were offered food despite the hour ,they had kept the restaurant open because they were expecting us! We declined and were shown to our room by the bellboy and the waiter who was still holding the baby !
We had a family room as there were 4 of us.The room was clean and spacious with plenty of storage for all our things. The decor was a little out dated but perfectly adequate for the amount of time you spend in them with plenty of fresh linen during the stay,
Breakfast the next day offered a good selection of cereals, breads, pastries.fresh fruit and cooked breakfast,Omelettes and fried eggs were cooked to order but if you're british you might miss baked beans!
The overall standard of the food was very high and there was plenty to choose from,Theres even a pianist in the restaurant who lanched into "twinkle star"whenever the baby went to see him.During the day we ate at the small restaurant overlooking the pool so we could just put on a t-shirt over our bathers. They served burgers and chips which were a favourite with the kids.At certain times this restaurant also served jacket pots ,pancakes and icecream which you could eat by the pool and later on at around 5 they serve tea and cakes.Look out for the really lovely guy who makes fresh pide (turkish pizza) by the pool bar -it's fantastic and he also cooks them in the main restaurant in the evening. It's also worth noting that the soft drinks were proper coke, fanta etc.
The pool area is always clean and tidy and there are always fresh towels available there. We didn't have any trouble getting a sunbed at all and there are 2 lovely pools to choose from.If you like the beach visit Ladies beach about 10 mins away as the hotel beach is man made and the water is too deep for kids-however there is jet skiing available there and although you have to pay for it it's great fun and our 4 yr old was allowed on with my husband.
The entetainment team work really hard and offer water polo and beach volley with a bit of cheating thrown in! Oscar ,Army and DJ were great with the kids and often took them for a walk around the pool to show them off to the other guests on our behalf. There is a hotel run mini club for age 4 and over and the woman who runs it is a real friend to the kids.It was the norm for her to eat her evening meal surrounded by her followers and our 4 yr old had great fun playing in the pool,.facepainting etc.It was also a great way of getting her to mix with other kids who she may not have approached herself.
Every nights entertainment kicked off with a mini disco for the kids and was followed by something for all the family to enjoy.(Professional acts also came in a few times.)If thats not your cup of tea then there is 1 bar within walking distance but theres a great taxi service at the end of the hotel drive to take you wherever you want to go(one day we actually agreed a price with a driver and he became our personal tour guide and chauffer for the day taking us a bit off the tourist track!)Kusadasi is lovely at night and even the patisseries stay open past midnight.
While you're in kusadasi definitely go to Ephesus which is about 30 mins away .i'd go with a proper trip so you get a guide which is definitely worth it,Also go to Aqua fantasy which was great because even the baby could go on a few slides there ( you can hire inflatable rings in an 8 shape and the kids sit in the front bit which has a bottom to it )We went there off our own back but on that ocassion it would have been cheaper to pre book with a rep in the hotel-we went with first choice.
Kusadasi is a really good town and there are bargains to be had but beware the locals can be pushy and after yor 3rd cup of apple tea in a shop you might have to be a bit abrupt so they get the picture that you really don't want "that leather coat"!
I'd also recommend Selcuk for a visit,it's a small old village in the mountains which is very pretty and you can sample some really delicious local wine there.
All in all the holiday was fab and this was largely down to the standard of accomodation and the fabulous staff at the hotel fantasia!
Hope you find this helpful.
Fantastic luxury hotel
A group of 4 20 year old lads went to Hotel Fantasia 11th September for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
Food - The food here I thought was excellent, dont know why there is any bad reviews. From breakfast, through lunch, afternoon snacks, tea and late night food, there is variety and food in abundance. For example there is always the main stalls for food, plus seperate areas serving pancakes, pizzas, eggs etc just offer variety. There were cats kicking around the in the outdoor part of the restaurant, but they dont touch you or jump up at you or anything, so if you can accept them walking around, there not a problem.
Staff, service and entertainment - Never had a problem myself. The staff and the service is excellent, very friendly staff and bar-staff, with great service so you never go without, and hardly have to stand up! People like emmy in the entertainment team are very nice, doing activities all day long, such as water-polo, potanka, football, table tennis. People did say that evening entertainment let this hotel down, which I suppose was not great. But it did have entertainment, and if you take it with a pinch of salt, you can always stay in on a night.
The hotel pool(s) are great. The main pool was large and very deep at one side, meaning you can dive in all day long, which we enjoyed. The quieter pool looked very peacefull. Sun beds were of plenty, but remember I went in september.
The town was nice, and bar street very lively. Although people do get put off by the amount of attention you are paid, trying to drag you into bars. Us lads just accepted it and took the free shots that every bar offers! We met some belgian girls who were scared to go there alone as 3 girls.
A mixture of nationalities was great at this hotel, with a lot of people talking english, and a few english families themselves. The rooms were pretty standard with an excellent view however. Not great air-conditioning and not great hair-dryers let the rooms down. But very clean and the cleaners were amazing.
The lobby and bars are of the highest standard, very classy, as are the pools and indoor pool (which is pretty empty and chilled out). We also had a turkish bath there which was a great experience.
Anything else you may want to know just reply and ask me! I loved this hotel, and the people there, Emmy, ramazan, bahar and the rest of the staff.
terrible 2 weeks
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the hotel fantasia deluxe(where the deluxe comes from who knows!!).
First impressions of the hotel are beautiful and very clean until you get in to your rooms where cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. We waited 3 days for our fridge to be fixed in our room and the hairydryer in our bathroom to be fixed also.
I broke a glass on the bathroom floor, i picked up the large pieces myself and then waited 5 days for the cleaner to clean up the remaining pieces!!Cleaning seemed to consist of making pretty patterns with your bed sheets and nothing more.We had no towels for 3 days until after 7pm as they said they weren`t dried.
We booked this hotel thinking it was 5 star, but it would be lucky to pass for a 3 star.
The food consisted of lots of bowls what can only be described as processed foods which you would buy from iceland back home, not what you expect from a 5 star hotel, the only saving grace was a very friendly pizza man who cooked pizza morning noon and night (he always had people waiting), but you get a bit fed up of it after 2 weeks,it must be the only holiday i have ever been on and lost weight, our whole party had upset stomachs for days.
You had to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed unless you were one of the few that paid the towel man to put towels on beds for you(we thought we haid paid enough in the first place!!)
You were packed in like sardines where you had to practically walk over the next sunlounger if you wanted to get up for a drink or go in the pool.
We found the staff to be very unhelpful and miserable most of the time and always appearing to be tired and p______ off.You could never get a glass of cold water with your meal on a night as they didn`t believe in putting ice in your drinks or the ice machine wasn`t working (not 5 star hotel practice!!)
The entertainment on a night was a complete joke, one night it consisted of a man pouring johnny walker whiskey in a glass about 20 times and showing you how to drink it!!
All in all one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in, they want you to pay 5 star hotel prices and give you 2 star treatment, and we would never go back, the only plus was that the weather was beautiful, but the hotel didn`t have to provide that!!
Had a great time! Scenery is beautiful in Turkey
I booked this holiday for me and my partner, it was a last minute thing so we didn't know what to expect and i had read good and bad reviews. When we got there after quite a long coach transfer(around 2 hours!) it was early hours and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The lobby is gorgeous! All marble with gold finishings and a coloured waterfall! We had a nice sized room with a balcony and a gorgous view of the sea. The room had all necesseties such as a kettle and hairdryer and enough storage and also a safe but you need a deposit for that. We went all inclusive and to be honest i thought the food was fine, brekfast is a buffet style all laid out cheeses and cereals etc and then there are eggs, omelette bacon etc freshly cooked infront of you and coffee and tea machines, there are pizza, ice cream and jacket potatoes served round the pool area then dinner which was different most days veal and pork or chicken and fish served with veg and potatoes and salad and even a vegetarian section and tea was similar again and you can get light snacks later on. A few people the next day were complaining to us about the food and how their patio door didn't lock but i think sometimes people are too fussy, we are a young couple in our twenties and were more than happy with the food and the patio door didn't matter as nobody could have climbed onto the balcony as they are seperate unless they want to risk falling!!. There are activities round the pool for kids during the day and at night a sing a long display which is more for kids, not really our scene but it's been like that most holiday resorts we've been on! It is a five minute walk across the road to catch a doma bus into the town and it takes about ten minutes and is really cheap. There is a big market twice a week (great for bargain hunters!) and plenty of shops and pubs etc. We also went to the aqua land which was very good. I can honestly say we loved Turkey the scenes were breath taking and the hotel Fantasia was a very pleaseant stay. My only warning is do not go on a boat trip if you don't want to be sick! We went on one , everything fine on the way there then nearly falling over board on the way back!! But overall i'd definately give the hotel 09/10!!
Kitten kicking national sport
If, like me, you do not enjoy watching waiters sending kittens flying across the room with a hard kick and then laughing about it, then perhaps this hotel isn't for you.
For me, this spoilt what would otherwise have been a decent holiday and I would not go back. Some of the hotel staff are polite and friendly but the attitude of others leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel is billed as 5 star but the popular opinion amongst the guests is that it is really a 3 or 4 star. The setting is good and the pools are great and really clean. Being vegetarian, I thought the all inclusve deal of the food would be difficult for me but there was plenty of choice and the presentation of the buffet style food in the restaurant was fantastic. The last time I went to Turkey, everyone seemed to have a good dose of 'Turkey Tummy' but no one at this hotel seemed to have been affected.
If you go into the centre of Kusudasi, then be prepared to be in for a lot of hassle. Even a polite 'no, thank you' does not do the trick and they will follow you down the road and, eventually, if you do not buy their goods, they will be rude. However, there is a local market 5 minutes' walk from the hotel where they seem to have learned that less bullying means more money will be spent.
If you are a single woman - or a woman who is without their partner for a few minutes - be warned and be careful.
On the whole, the holiday was okay and the hotel (with the exception of kitten kicking) was good but the general feeling was that people could not wait to go home; those who were spending two weeks there were counting every second to their departure.
Enjoyable stay at the Fantasia. Our second visit to an All Inclusive in Turkey (first was to Olu Deniz - preferred that area). The hotel is set quite high up from a man made beach/deck with quite a lot of steps down to sea level from the pool area. The room was fine, but with very little hanging space. Restaurant food was good, but long queues for the main course some evenings. Snacks (pool area) very nice, fresh pizza, ice cream, cereals, cakes etc People tended to put their towels out very early and the top pool was extremely busy and noisy (very loud music etc ) with sunbeds extremely close to each other. The lower pool was quieter but more difficult to get a bed there if you got up after 9 am !! My only real crticism was the evening entertainment and even the Thomas Cook rep agreed that it was VERY POOR !! Kusadasi is quite a 'built up' resort , we went into town on 2 occasions. The dolmus is the cheapest transport ( catch one opp hotel). Cruise ships come into Kusadasi so shop around the town if there is something special you are after, as prices are a bit 'inflated' nearer harbour ready for cruise passengers.
