Hi! We need to get from Kusadasi in Izmir to either Mykonos or Athens in April this year. So far we have only been able to find a (rather expensive!) ferry that goes from Kusadasi to Samos. A couple of questions:
1) From Samos is there any ferry that we can take to get to Mykonos or Athens? So far none of the major ferry websites like http://www.ferries.gr/ and http://www.greekferries.gr/ seem to have such an option. In fact, how DOES one get out of Samos by ferry to any of the other major Greek islands? Is Samos being listed under another name on the websites?
2) Alternatively, is there any ferry that goes straight from Kusadasi to Mykonos or Athens (or any other major Greek island)?
Being able to book the tickets online or at least book in advance would be a great plus. Thanks in advance for the help! Really appreciated.

hmmmm having only sailed this route on a charter....the ferries would seem the best shot..there are a few ferry routes on the internet that might help but you seem to have hit them already. Have your tried Mykonos or Crete?

If you google "ferries from samos to pireaus" you will see there asre loads of links.
Maybe you can go via Chios?
There are ferries from Cesme to Chios. You then need to go from Kusadasi to Izmir and then out to Cesme by another bus. Should max take 3 hours with bus change/waiting in Izmir.
I watched Travelling channel the other day and the person travelling took the ferry Pireus - Chios and returned to Athens by plane. It looked that the program was taped "off season". Ferry Pireus - Chios was 6 or 8 hours.
Gold is not expensive in Turkey but be sure you buy real gold. In Kusadasi there is this jeweller called 'de Almelose'. He has a shop in Holland to and you can trust him. He is in one of the shopping streets, Kahramanlar Cad. NO. 15. Tel. (0 256) 6120386
We strolled into the marine and there were many many yachts lying there. I also noticed that they had cruise boats, which I believe you can book for and go for a day excursion. If it was anything like the one we did in Altinkum, I would really recommend it. Unfortunately we did not spend much time in Kusadasi, so could not do it.
