Kusadasi to Bodrum

by KimMailey

We need to travel from Kusadasi to Bodrum to overnight before catching a ferry to KOS. Two questions:
1) What is a cost effective way to get from Kusadasi to Bodrum? (We are two adults and two kids 10 and 13)
2) Is it true that we just book the ferry in Bodrum to KOS when we arrive in our hotel in Bodrum for the next day's journey?

Probably 5 or 6 of the major bus companies do it so just find one of their offices,Varan,Pamukkale,Metro,Kamil Koc and maybe some local ones too.
Will be adding their web sites to my Istanbul pages later today so check back then, prewarned not all of them will be in English, just the Major ones.

Travel Tips for Kusadasi

Evil Eye

by miman

There is probably no culture in the world, which is free from the clutches of superstition and to counter these superstitions, in every culture you will find people taking recourse to charms and talismans. The Turkish Evil Eye Pendants is the Turkish means of keeping at bay the ills brought on by envious and greedy eyes. The Evil Eye belief says that when someone eyes your good fortune with jealousy or gluttony, bad luck in some form is bound to befall you. It is also widely held that any accolade or praise, however well meaning it may be, is always tinged with a wee bit of greed and spite. The Turks are especially circumspect of people with blue eyes. They believe that blue-eyed people, however enchanting and attractive their eyes may look, essentially harbor negative feelings about others and when this negative energy gets transmitted to others, much harm and distress is caused. The Turks have devised the Evil Eye Pendant to guard themselves from such not-so-well-meaning people with their necessarily evil eyes.

Go to a Greek Island for the day!

by debtravers

From Kusadasi you can take a ferry over to the Greek island of Samos - the birth place of philsopher Pythagorus no less. Samos is the capital city and this is where the ferry docks; there are beautiful walks on the island, byzantine churches to visit, beaches nearby and no shortage of bars/cafes to enjoy a glass of something and people watch!
Ferries run daily from 1 April til 31 October - departs Kusadasi 8.30am and returns from Samos at 5pm. Ticket prices vary, daily return available or one way; and also remember to check if you need a visa to enter Greece. EU and US citizens don't. Remember that you will need euros in Samos.

Kusadasi has become a major tourist destination due to all the cruise lines that dock here to visit the ancient city of Ephesus. Now, tourists come for the city of Kusadasi, itself, as well as the surrounding areas including Ephesus. The area of Pamukkale is one of the highlight tours on a trip to Turkey and when staying in Kusadasi. A bit of a drive, Pamukkale (nearby the ancient town of Hierapolis, the thermal baths of the Romans in 190 BC) has become a must see with the warm healing waters. Kusadasi has wonderful and plentiful beaches to cool off in during the warm season. Seafood and Turkish delights are the main restaurant dishes.
