kustur club - ideal
by TripAdvisor Member cumbrialola
we visited the kustur club in august 07 as a family .
The hotel had great facilities for the the young and old.
A POOL FOR LOTS OF ACTION AND A POOL FOR A BIT OF PEACE AN QUIET AND RELAXATION.
The entertainment were great encouraging the kids to join in activities etc.
The evening entertainment was a bit poor and some professional acts might have been better ,nether the less some of the shows were ok.
The food was ok but after a week it gets a bit repetetive.
The all inclusive package is good although it is tedious having to keep going to bar because they put the drinks in little plastic cups which isnt very good .
you cant fault the house keeping department , beds made and clean towels daily and cleaners around the pool and village all the time .
The pool area is spotless.
ONE PROBLEM WE FOUND WAS HAVING TO GET UP EARLY TO GET A SUNBED but all you need there is a kind husband and its sorted .
The staff are lovely ,especially catagay, aycan, mehmet and hamed .
beach is close and ideal for families.
pedaloes and canoes are good .
A OVERALL GREATplace to holiday ,1 tip i would say if you go is a comfy pair of sandles because some of the rooms are a long way from the action and it is quite a big place .
its not quite the 5 * its listed as but its a great holiday and good value for money,
KUSADASI is a lovely place aswell and great for bargains if you like shopping .
would defo reccomend.
Great time at Kustur!

I got back from my week at Kustur Village 2 days ago, and am really wishing I was back there! Had a fantastic week, was pleased I had listended to the reviews on here and booked it!
We arrived at 5am and were taken to our room which was lovely, clean and spacious and with very effective aircon (turned out we didn't really need it in late september and woke up freezing, but guessing it would have been essential earlier in the season!).
The main pool was great, plenty of sun loungers, the bar and snacks (burgers, chips, pizza, pancakes). Lots going on - the animation team were contantly trying to recruit people to their games, but we weren't having any of it!
The beach was lovely, and was where we spent most of our time. Again, plenty of sun loungers, the sea was beautiful and clean. There was the occasional hassel from the guy trying to sell turkish massages, but generally it was fine and very chilled. Bliss!
The food was great, don't know how anyone could struggle to find something they didn't like - huge selection of hot and cold food, and deserts! Making me hungry just thinking about it! (to give you an idea of how good the food was, I put on half a stone in a week!).
The only slight irriatation was that as 2 single girls in our 20s we were fairly constantly hasseled by the waiters, the animation team and the guys runnig the watersports on the beach. not in a threatening way, but got a bit tiresome saying "no, we're not interested" every 5 minutes! wouldn't put me off going back, just something to be aware of.
All in all I really enjoyed my holiday at Kustur, and am planning to go back next year. Would definately recommend!
Hmmm-they say 5 star-stay at teh Fantasia & Tusan instead!

Just got back this morning-(torrential rain drive from EMA-nice!) we are a couple who don't have kids aged 42 & 46yrs. We like quiet hotels, relaxing places where we ca soak in the beauty of turkey at a slow pace after our hectic work lives. Our own fault I suppose to book this place, so if you like what we like, then don't whatever you do, book the Kustur.
1) majority of guests-up to 80% are Russian/Bulgarian-well ex soviet block. Now I don't usually mind, but their idea of a perfect holiday is down as many all inclusive drinks, running hte bar staff ragged, and being very VERY LOUD, eating- they shout a lot, and smoke-a lot-everywhere. They do not have the manners that every other nation has(well maybe not our Teutonic neighbours) talking to one creche member of staff, she said the English kids were lovely-they had manners, were polite & well brought up-the soviets hadn't been taught manners, and at the end of the day, the parents "forgot" to collect their children on a regular basis! too busy getting ---.
the Bar staff were visible happier when the soviets went home-alas only for 1 night on change over
2) If you like a lot of "entertainment" around your pool ALL day in the guise of distorted music and screeching on the microphone, then don't go there-you can hear this well up the complex too! One example was a game of boule-6 people playing-everyone else NOT interested-but lets take the blo*dy microphone down to the game & do a running commentany. There is even a ghetto blaster on the bech at the watersports shack-you have to walk quite a way down to stop you from hearing it. And it was ALL turkish wailing music too-nothing recognisable
3) Entertainment in the ampitheatre. we only went twiceonce was a poor re-enactment of Alladin, and then we stumbled across Bingo-at 10.45pm ! way too loud on the microphone again-Hasty exit from us.
4) the Rooms/Blocks We thought we were unfortunate to be stiuck out up the hill-Room 548, but it was quiet up there. our 1st room stank & was changed immediately-Room 510-Don't let them give you it! probs with drainage methinks! the walls are so thin you can hear everything your neigbours are up to !!! I think we were very lucky in not a full block of people & we were considerate. You can hear the blokes peeing in the toilet in the night! Don't flush the loo or you will wake up the baby 3 rooms down! We had 3 french lads for our final 2 nights, bless 'em, they were as quiet as blokes that age full of drink could be, but one would be banging on the door at 3/4am to get in after a night of conquests. One night 1 of them asked if he could come through our room, climb over our balcony into theirs!
the beds-you had 3 single beds-which is 1 new one(this last week) and 2 saggy knackered ones-REALLY knackered. The decor is spotless(lovely housekeeping staff) towels changed every day & bin emptied, but the wardrobe is the fall out slidy type, and all is a fetching pink paint colour-not looking its best! But,,, the Air conditioner is great, and you get english MTV, BBC WOrld news, CNN, and one dodgy english speaking film/kids TV channel.
The gardens are lovely-spotless sprayed for creepy crawlies & mosquitos, but up at the outer blocks, not great lighting on the paths-so take a torch to stop you from stepping on something in the dark!
5) Food- Well they cater for soviets, so take from that what you will. No bacon, sausages, hardly anything labelled, which is really bad for vegetarians, but I, and my Hubby, who always gets a bad tummy Did Not on this holiday-so cleanliness must be good-I ate everything without meat & fish & no probs at all. lots of salad, and local cheese, but mainly slalmi, sliced meats, hot dishes with meat/chicken in them, grilled/bbq food, which apparently was foul(grilled liver! go figure!-I took some for the local stray cats & even they had a hard time chewing it!) BUT coffee was great-proper filter coffee, and also a drinks machine that served chocolate, moccacoffees etc.
Bar staff will mix basic cocktails-everytthing as long as you like Tang-all flavours.
the Deserts were a dissapointment-Why? they all look great, but they are not what they seem! the fruit is fruit, and the syrup soaked cakes are just that, but what looks like neapolitan ice cream is in fact Jello/blamange, and the rice puding is in fact Jello/blamange, the creme caramel is actually coloured Jello/blamange with brown on top, the chocolate pudding is brown coloured Jello/blamange, the pink trifle stuff in in fact....welll you can guess YES JELLO/BLAMANGE!
We used this hotel as a base for visits to ancient sites-Ephasus-catch the local dolmus outside the gates-1.50ytl to Ephasus gates-some go down the track to the gates for you. but is not far to walk-only 15mins at most-don;t believe the horse & cart people-its NOT 3km. but if you want to stink of Horse all day !!! wear decent walking shoes, the restaurants at entrances are OK, but a bit expensive. Don't forget to visit the museum at Seljuk-maybe on a different day
We also went with Discovery tours(near the Kustur club gates just before the petrol station) to Priene, Miletos, Didyma(temple of appollo) altinkim beach, & soke market, all in one day, with a great lunch, all for £14 each! A great guide called Elgin well recommended-he speaks great English & knew a lot about the sights. On a hot day its a bit much(as my Hubby found out!) take decent walking shoes & natural fibres clothes. You get 3/4 at Altinkum beach, so take swim suit & towel. you can leave stuff on the bus & Turkish people are very honest & would be appalled to find out we think they thieve on us.
General- Toilets-the local toilets are everywhere in Kusadasi, and they cost between 50cents and 75cents to go. Don't let them charge you more. If you see a supermarket-Tantas & Migros-this is a good place to buy water, Turkish Honey, Jam, wine, delight, sweets, nuts etc.
#If you like loud, kiddy orientated, canteen style eating in a turkish Butlins style, and you don't mind waiting for drinks, and eating soviet/turkish only style food, then this is the place for you. If you want a more refined place, stay at the Tusan up hte road, or the Hotel fantasia, which is No1 on here & someone on our flight could not fault it.
Great place!

We stayed at Kuster club between june 12-27 June 2008,
We have just got back from Kuster club and we had a great time, 4 adults and 2 children 9 and 11,
We read before we left that the hotel had changed hands, which was true.
Getting to the hotel was easy and only 1 hour way from Izmir airport, we arrived at about 2.00am after checking in the bellboy took us to are apartment, which is large, and ground level, all the rooms are lovley and eaither 1 or 2 story high, set in a green grass spacious gardens, were the children can run around and play, with no worries.
The anamation team are amazing and really make you feel at home, they all like the English, and my boys, me and hubby loved Casper and billy on the anamation team, Casper is a dwarf but he is great, they work really hard and long hours but always had a smile on there faces, they would come and talk to you in the day and have a laugh with you, my boys became known as Ronaldo, Gerrard coz of the tops they war, and i was mum.
The waiters and the bar staff are good i always gave a tip after tea every night just 2 lera which is only £1.00 to the waiter in the restraunt who cleared are table, but they remember you and always talk to you, and ask if you wont anything else,
the down side to the restraunt is the Russians, there are loads in the Kuster club and they just push in in front of you in the que in the restraunt and the bar area, and after 2 weeks you soon learn to defend your space in the que, and to have the odd tiff with them.
Sammy is a great waiter out side in the bar area, and we had a great laugh with him about apple tea, he is great.
The local hotel photographer is called Murrat and very cute, and he and hubby became great friends and swaped msn addresses, we brought some of his photos and they are really good, they get you on the way to tea and take your photo, if you like them you buy them if you dont like them, then you dont buy them, they cost 10 lera which is £5.00 really cheap.
The pool is great and the slides kept the kids and hubby and grandad entertained all day, they come on at 10.30 till 12 and then again at 2.30 till 5.00 there is a lifeguard there that loves to play on the slide when it gets hot.
The nights were good but we watched football outside with the Turkish fans, but others were in the big open amplatheter outside with the anamation team.
The town is only about 10 min drive away on a dolemus (minibus) it coasts 2.50 lera on way, we walked it a few times and it takes about 1 hour eaither way, but the view is amazing, the localls in the town are really friendly will ask you to shop in there shop, but again they love the English, clothes arnt all that cheap but a bit diffrent then home, they like English pounds or the Euro, more the the lera.
Change your money in the town and not at the hotel as you dont get as much for your money at the hotel.
There are some mountains around the hotel that hubby draged me up a few times, but agian amazing, views but hard work.
I would love to go back again to see everyone, but there are far to many Russians hear that just annoy you.
When we left the anamation team came to say goodbye and made us all cry, and they cried also.
You will have a great time hear!
Looks nice but appearences are deceptive.

Arrived after all food had finished for the night at 2145hrs on 23/05/08 after a 2 and a half hour transfer from Bodrum airport. It looked quite nice but we were surprised at the lack of choice for the all inclusive drinks from the bar!
Gin, Vodka, wine or beer!!
Rooms were very nice and spacious, cleaned everyday and the aircon was excellent
Those were the good points.
The food! Excellent choice if you're a vegetarian.
Everything else was absolute rubbish. Distinct lack of dogs and cats around and I think I know why. No way was the cuisine 5 star. Loads of families were eating out as it was that bad.
My eldest son was violently ill during the night due to eating undercooked food and was sick on his bed covers.
The next day the evil guest relations manager called us to reception and told us we had to pay £70 for damage to bedding as they refused to clean it!!!
Her attitude was absolutely appalling.
She also accused us of lying over damage caused to a mobile phone and ipod when the maintenance man decided to turn on the sprinklers when we were sunbathing but after sitting in her office for 3 hours on my wife's birthday she eventually agreed to pay for the damage but at a severely knock down price.
Apparently bedding is very expensive in Turkey but technology is cheap.
The entertainment was appalling but the entertainers were quite friendly on the whole.Hats off to Farti and also Sami and Ismet from the bar.
We have literally just got back from this holiday and our experience was so bad I just wanted to post a warning to anyone thinking of going here.
Don't.
We saw some woman as we were leaving at 4 a.m. this morning who was returning for the 4th time only to find the hotel has changed hands and she was wanting to leave already.
To sum this place up. Looks lovely but underneath its bleeding awful.
Will never return to Turkey in my life. Ibiza knocks spots off it.
Lovely settings but not the advertised 5 stars hotel

We arrived on 22Jun08 with our 2 kids for a 12 days stay. We were checked in swiftly and they kept the restaurant open for late arrivals, and the first impression was good. But and there was a lot of buts.
Positive :
- the hotel is set in nice surroundings, leafy and well maintained park.
- the room was nice and spacious and overlooking the silent pools.
- the restaurant staff, roommaids and animation team were very friendly and affectionate with the kids. They worked really long hours.
Negative :
- the management team was quite rude, never talked nor smiled to the customers : they wandered around with their talkie walkies, cold and stone faced. Maybe it is a new team and they may be under a lot of pressure but an acknowledgement or a smile never killed anybody. We actually saw a degradation of the services from week1 to week2 when they started to appear.
- the reception staff was unhelpful and unfriendly : we asked to extend the check-out time to 4.00pm due to a late flight and were told that they were very busy on that day. Actually the room wasn't cleaned until 5pm when we left. Don't ask them to ring the rep for you from the reception desk, they won't do it because the phone there is not charged. You have to do it from your room so you get charged, but only after they open the connection. Generally there was no greeting when you walked passed, they just kept their nose down in their paperwork.
- the hotel didn't provide nor advertise any information at all on the services available, no leaflet, no poster. You have to find out by yourself or ask your fellow holidaymakers.
- the beach was next to a busy road and had big stones when you entered the water. Definitely not for kids. It was quite dirty sometimes.
- the food was sub-standard and totally lacked of variety. The restaurant was impersonal and was more like a huge and noisy factory canteen. It was overcrowded anytime you go. The second week was horrible, you even had to ask for cutlery, the staff patrolled the canteen with huge trolleys in which they litterally threw everything
- the rooms were made late in the afternoon most of the time. We had to wait a few times, which was inconvenient after coming back from long excursions with 2 youngs kids. We even told them to forget it a couple of times.
- the kids' playground looked like an abandoned field and needed tidying up
In conclusion, not the most memorable stay : the setting could be 5* but the services provided are 2-3 * at most.
Going back ? NO.
Would recommend it ? NO.
Kusadasi

"A working resort"
My visit to Kusadasi was July 1997.
I have only been to Turkey this once. To me Kusadasi is a resort /port/working town.
As a resort it as a good beach plus many more in this area. The town as some character the narrow streets and the market plus plenty off bars shops and restaurants.
As a port this is were all the cruise ships dock and is deep enough to take any ship.
People from the cruise ships may visit the ruins of Ephesus once an important Roman town.
As a working town this could be the down side as there are some underlying elements. Upper Bar Street is a bit dodgy as some off the bars are owned by people from the Eastern block.
The surrounding area as lot to offer with lots off hotels and beaches one off these is kustur with a few bars and restaurants quieter than the Town.
Comments from my wife Christine.
I have just arrived back from Kusadasi we have been going almost every year since 1996.
I found Kusadasi to be a buzzing cosmopolitan place with lots of atmosphere
There are lots of bars and restaurants night life is busy and caters for all kinds off people. Also there are a lot of shops plus the Friday and Tuesday market.
Kusadasi is a port were a lots of cruise liners dock as it is the nearest port to Ephesus the ruins of a roman town.
There plenty off beaches to visit long beach Lady's beach kustur beach and the town beach.

BABY FOOD
by chicorito
Hello, we are planning to spend two weeks in the Kustur Club Holiday Village next month. Our daughter is 8 months old. Is it fairly easy to buy fruit jars for babies in Kusadasi? Those are pretty heavy, so buying them in Kusadasi would save us some trouble. Thanx for any help and information.
Re: BABY FOOD
by GrumpyDiver
One word of warning - we travelled with both of our daughters when they were that young and we tried to buy some of the baby food locally (we had some along from home too). Bottom line is that they would not eat the local stuff (the exception is when we travelled to the USA).
Re: BABY FOOD
by Jawnuta
There is no problem finding baby food in local supermarkets and smaller grocery stores.
Mostly NEstle and Milupa and some Turkish brands
Re: BABY FOOD

You can buy baby food in a jar from the super markets like Migros
