Kusadasi Tours Travel and Shiiping Agency

by mll108

Has anyone heard of Kusadasi Tours Travel and Shipping Agency? Are they reliable? We are going to be in Kusadasi on March 20 and would like to go to Ephesus and they are offering a tour for $40 US. The ship excursion costs $89 and another turkish travel agency quoted me $80. Do you know of any agency that you would recommend for the 4 hours tour of Ephesus?

don't waste your time and money on a tour, just catch a taxi from Kusadasi to Ephesus, its only 18km or so and it will cost very little, from there wander the site yourself, you certainly do not need a tour guide. Taxi back or visit the nearby town of Selcuk which has a number of its own sites, but Ephesus is a bit of a jewel. By the time you take a taxi back, you will have plenty of spare cash compared to the "tour" to buy several meals and drinks. The turkish folk are friendly and helpful, you can easily do this by yourself.

Don't know the travel agency, but I did notice the Taxi's by where the cruise ships dock were charging 60euro return May last year, actually put it as a tourist trap tip on my page.
A dolmus [local bus]to Selcuk cost 8 turk/l return, may be hard for you to find as they leave quite a walk away from the dock from the bus station. They leave every half hour.
Taxi's may be cheaper away from the dock, but the city does have its prices higher than other places in Turkey because of the ships docking there.

Thank you for both your comments!!

I agree with these comments - don't give your money to the travel agents. Very often their tours are not good quality and forgive me, will involve a stop at a carpet or jewellery warehouse. Dolmus to selcuk and taxi to ephesus would be my way to do it, it's no distance really, much more fun to go under your own steam and the museum and St John's basilica are in and around selcuk so you will see more by yourself than any tour offers for the bog standard price :o))
Enjoy - Ephesus is spectacular and if you get up to St John's basilica the view over the area is magnificent. In addition Meryemana is in the vicinity so depending on how much time you have that might be worth a visit too :0)

Do you know how I get to where the dolmus are?

Re: Kusadasi Tours Travel and Shiiping Agency

It is located on Kahramanlar Caddesi. I would write this down and take it with you, the locals or info centre will set you right. You ask the driver to stop and drop you off so you can go to Ephesus, they drop you off on the main road, then its a short walk, or go all the way to Selcuk [worth doing] and get a taxi from there to Ephesus [very short distance]
Have a good time, lovely area.

Sounds great!Thanks

It is bad comment for visitors of Ephesus. Because if passengers will use the Dolmus, they should walk about 2 km for entrance of Ephesus. Passengers are not come for walk on roads. If anyone want to trip to Ephesus, they can use the Dolmus. Please do not forget that it is cheap but bad experience for Ephesus.

Travel Tips for Kusadasi

Kusadasi – Bird Island

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Kusadasi is a resort town at the Turkish Aegean coast. The city stands on a bay in the Aegean with the peninsula of Guvercin Ada sticking out into the sea at one end.
The name comes from 'kuş' (bird) and 'ada' (island) as the peninsula has the shape of a bird's head.
Since Byzantine times it has been known as Ephesus Neopolis, Scala Nuova, becoming Kush-Adasi at the beginning of the 20th century.

by whitecliff62 about PERLMUTT LEATHER

If you are after anything leather then this shop has it all. The owner is a bit of a dummy though hahahaha. I bought a leather jacket and the price started at £150 and i walked out with the jacket costing £60 so i think that was a bargain. Depends on what you buy, but a leather jacket will start from around £30 pounds.

Main supermarkets are Migros and Tansas along with a Kipa [Tesco] hypermarket and a large Kos-Tas [B&Q]
Bim bim [Ldil]
Many boutiques on the main streets.
Clothing street market every Wednesday and food market Tuesday and Friday.
Selcuk [next town] has the largest street market both food and clothes every saturday.
Boat trips to Samos qualify you for Duty free.

"Kusadasi Restaurants"

Lots of good restaurants.
Check out around the court house in the center of town
On the main street just before the court is the Esenay dearest main course 7 Tyl.
Beside each other facing the Court enterance is Lezzi Evi and the Avlu both excellent and cheap [Avlu also in old town on side street down from the post office]
Bul bul across from the cemetary is also excellent.
Dergiman - get Dolmus to Davutlar and get out at Restaurant enterance is not only an experience but a brilliant place to spend all day with the kids in their free theme park

New local by laws introduced last year has virtually stopped shops and restaurants hawking for customers
