dolmus near pier where cruise ships dock?

by jocelysue

We have visited Turkey before so are quite accustomed to taking a dolmus.Actually, we really enjoyed this method of transportation. Would you please tell me where it would be the easiest to catch a dolmus to Ephesus when we come off a cruise ship?

We intend to visit Ephesus for the day.

Thanks ever so much.

Hi Ann wellcome to Turkey again
when we come off a cruise ship at Kusadasi port. Just ask every man or official where you can take the dolmush to Ephesus. Every body can speak english or just write this turkish sentence on a paper and show.
"Ben Efes'e dolmusla gitmek istiyorum. Dolmus nereden kalkiyor. Lutfen bana yardimci olunuz"
In Englih:
I want to go to Ephesusu by taking dolmush. Where is the dolmus stop. Please show me.

Ephesus is 15 km away from Kusadasi port. The dolmus line is called Kusadasi-Selcuk line. Selcuk is another town near Ephesusu some 8 kms away from Ephesus. While paying the bill say the dolmus driver just "Efes" He will understand that you will drop of at Efes. Dolmus stops same 1,5 kms away to the enterence of Ephesus.

While returning stay on the main road and wait for dolmus. All dolmus have the same color and shape. Just wave like a hiker. You can find also dolmus awaiting for passenger. Dont forget to ask "KUSADASI". If you take the wrng dolmus you will waste time and travel to another town.
Have a nice time in Turkey.

Thank you very much for your anwer. Please accept my excuses for not answering you before but I had to take care of my two youngest granddaughters and did not have the time .

I really appreciate your answer. When we visited Efes before we stayed in Selcuk for four days and, somehow or other, did not go to Kusadasi. My husband and I enjoyed travelling by dolmus because we found it was a great way to meet Turkish people who are, most assuredly, some of the most honest people on earth.

We most certainly will use your text to ask for directions. But, if there hasn't been any change, we found Turks were pleasant and helpful so we are not at all worried on that score.

Once again,çok tesekkür ederim.

During our stay we could pay (almost) everything in Deutsch Mark. It is useful to have some Euros/US-Dollars with you. As Turkey is suffering from high inflation the shop owners prefer stabil currencies.

Ephesus/Efes

by WulfstanTraveller

The ruins of Ephesus are of course one of the all-time "must see" activities in Turkey and they are extremely extensive. This is to be expected as Ephesus in its heyday was a very large city, Roman provincial capital, and one of the most important cities in the Roman Empire. It has also been extensively excavated and renovated. The extent of the ruins, and the size of buildings like the theatre certainly make this worth visiting, even though it is quite touristy.

Kusadasi, Turkey

Kusadasi is the starting point for travels to historical sites such as Ephesus. There are 2 beaches, from what I a told the one that is man-made sucks. We were not able to go since we had only a few hours here and you need to take a bus to get to either beach. From here you can visit many jewelry, spice and leather shops.
