We (7 persons) are planning to travel to Ayvalik from Mitili on Saturday 11/4 (about 11.00 o clock) and then continue to Istanbul. Which is the fastest way to travel to Istanbul by bus?

The road takes 8 hours from Ayvalik to Istanbul by bus. You can check the schedule from the web sites of bus companies. Here, there are some options:

Atlasjet was flying between Edremit (50-60 km to Ayvalik) and Istanbul but they don't have this route now.
Ayvalik and the whole North line of the Aegean is fantastic in terms of amazing sea food and enjoyable roadtrip.I recommend a seld drive-car rental is great option- and drive along the coast , cross the dardanelles by ferry visiting Troy,Gallipoli and finally arrival at Istanbul.Normally there was a scheduled flight from Canakkale to Istanbul but somehow it stopped.

The trip from Ayvalik to Istanbul will be about 8 - 9 hours and there are several buses that travel this route. Two years back I took the Metro Bus and they're quite comfortable.

Where is it?
Ayvalik is on Turkish west coast, on Aegean sea. It is situated between Canakale (Dardanely straits) and Izmir. Some 150 km north of Izmir. The Greek island Lezbos is 15 km across the sea. It has hot climate arround 30 to 33C degrees in July. And it is concidered as air spa. Ayvalik is surrounded by olive trees and there is an archipelag od 23 little islands, some of those islands are inhabited.
It is relatively close to 3 archeological sites. Troy, Pergamon and Efes. You can visit all those sites by bus.
The Church of Faneromeni
The Church of Faneromeni is situated in the district of Kemal Pasa.The water of the church is accepted as holly water thats why its named as Ayazma or Faneromeni ( holly water )
The buiding date is 1890.Its build on an are of 200 m2 and the chuch is only 150 m2.
Size is 17.40mX8.60m Height is 12 m .
according to eh legens a small girl sees Virgin Mary drinking water from this spot. The municipality decide to make an investigation and they really find water in this specific area and they decide to build this church.

There is an orthodox church in Cunda. It was ruined in some earthquake and it is forbiden to enter cause it is dangerous. I took some pics of the inside from the window. You'll see some white things on the bars on pics...I saw that on other places in Turkey western coast, you make a wish and tie that white cloth or paper and your wish will come true... I guess LOL ...or not...
Hayrettin Pasha Mosque
This mosque also is a converted from church and itd situated in the district of Hayrettin Pasa.
Its build in 1850 and its one of he first church of the city.Originally the name of the building is Panaia (Virgin Mary ) and it was used as a chýurch of religion school.
Total area is 4000 m2 and the church/ mosque is based on 700 m2 .The height is 18 m.The minaret is 32 m high.
