The road takes 8 hours from Ayvalik to Istanbul by bus. You can check the schedule from the web sites of bus companies. Here, there are some options:

Unfortunately they are all in Turkish.

Atlasjet was flying between Edremit (50-60 km to Ayvalik) and Istanbul but they don't have this route now.

Re: ayvalik/istanbul

Hello ,
Ayvalik and the whole North line of the Aegean is fantastic in terms of amazing sea food and enjoyable roadtrip.I recommend a seld drive-car rental is great option- and drive along the coast , cross the dardanelles by ferry visiting Troy,Gallipoli and finally arrival at Istanbul.Normally there was a scheduled flight from Canakkale to Istanbul but somehow it stopped.

If you need any please let me know
Enjoy your trip :)

The trip from Ayvalik to Istanbul will be about 8 - 9 hours and there are several buses that travel this route. Two years back I took the Metro Bus and they're quite comfortable.

Their website has been improved and in english, check their schedules here:

have fun!

Learn Ottoman Language in Cunda

by ozalp

If you walk into a street with many cats in Cunda, search for a sign of Harvard University. This is Harvard’s Ottoman Language Summer School’s building. There are always plates full of Whiskas in this street, so cats just lay the sidewalk and enjoy the street party style life. If you love cats, you can watch them playing around.

Greek Orhodox church in Cunda

by goga4444

There is an orthodox church in Cunda. It was ruined in some earthquake and it is forbiden to enter cause it is dangerous. I took some pics of the inside from the window. You'll see some white things on the bars on pics...I saw that on other places in Turkey western coast, you make a wish and tie that white cloth or paper and your wish will come true...
