train transportation

by dpaleski

I need to know the time table of trains between Yalova, Turkey and Bursa, Turkey for March 2010 in English.

It isn't far but no trains run to these communities that I can see. You may have to bus it.

Re: train transportation

i remember doing this early this year, yes, there's no train from yalova to bursa, you have to take a bus (i embarked at the ferry terminal and there are buses from there), the bus will take you to the main bus terminal and from there you have to take the city buses ( i think it's yellow buses) to take you to bursa's centrum. first bus costs about TL7 and about an hour or less trip while the city bus another hour or maybe less depends on the traffic, it's not far, it's just the terrible traffic. but if ur coming from istanbul and taking the catamaran ferry to bursa, take the one going to guzelyali (bursa) instead of yalova, that one is nearer and easier to get from ferry dock to bursa's centrum by combination of bus and metro.

have fun.

Travel Tips for Bursa

If on a clear winter's day in...

by aozcakir

If on a clear winter's day in Bursa (a rare occurrence) you travel up to Tophane, you will see a large city extend before you. As the last rays of the setting sun strike Bakacak point on Uludag, the twentieth-century lights of the most important Ottoman city of a past era start to appear... Modern Bursa is encroaching on the slopes of Uludag and surrounding old Bursa on 3 sides, eclipsing its beauty. Night conceals the ugly concrete piles and shapeless, soulless buildings of this modern Bursa.

If you plan to go up in the mountains

by Lion_Beat

Better sport easy to wear clothes. Have in mind that if you intend to go skiing you will need a skiing costume, but do not worry to much - for about 10 bucks you can rent a skiing costume. Be sure to find a way to protect your camera from snow. Thats of course if you go on winter.

Uludag

by WulfstanTraveller

Bursa is located at the base and up the lower slopes of Uludag, a mountain well over 7000 feet high with a national park and ski resort. Even in June, the upper areas are still cold and damp with snow on the ground. A journey up the mountain from Bursa brings one through pleasant wooded farming country and into progerssively cooler and more thickly forested areas full of deer and mountain streams. The countryside is, except where farmed, thick with forests and verdent vegetation, so even in mid June it is very geen. It's also a great escape if the weather is hot, because the temperature drops steadily as one climbs the mountain.

To visit the area, take a road out of Bursa up Uludag. The main road leading to the ski resort and park is excellent and the drive is easy.

Inkaya Tree- A 600 year old tree on the mountain

by basak

The 600-year old plane tree at Inkaya, attract people to this old, little village where only 85 families live.

Inkaya is a village just a few miles away from Bursa on the way to Uludag (Mount Olympos). It is one of the oldest villages of Bursa founded by Ottomans. There is a giant plane tree in the village with almost 10-metre circumference trunk which make this place a touristic attraction. There are restaurants, gift shops, cafes around the tree and it is a popular place among local people as well. On sunny summer days, it is nice to go up to the Inkaya tree and have a cup of tea or eat grilled meat under the tree.

If you prefer to...

Ferryboat:

If you prefer to go to Bursa by car (rental) you should use the ferry from Eskihisar (about 40 km. from Istanbul) to Topcular than you will need to drive around 70 km. otherwise you have drive all the Izmit bay and in total you will dirve around 250 km.

As of July 3rd 2001 the cost of ferry is TL. 15,000,000 (about USD 12.00, USD/TL: 1,250,000)

Yes you will definitely need a pocket calculator since the exchange rate is wildiy fluctuating.
