The Heykel
by Tijavi
This is perhaps the first word you'll learn upon arrival in Bursa. It's posted in almost every dolmus (mini-bus/shared taxi) and bus, and it refers to Turkey's iconic political figure - Mustafa Kemal. And it's a cold slab of sculptured stone - a sculpture of Mustafa Kemal himself - simply translated 'statue' in English.
The heykel is sort of the city's ground zero from which directions and orientation are based. Behind the statue is a garaj (yes, that is garage), one of the city's many, but for tourists perhaps the most important. From this garaj you could take the shared taxi to telerifik, among others.
Favorite pastime

While tea gardens are a popular fixture in many parts of Turkey, I've never seen something as lively as Bursa's. And it's all over the city - from the atmospheric hans (Ottoman warehouses converted to shops and tea gardens) to popular places like Mahfel Mado, much of the city's real estate is devoted to what is arguably Bursa's favorite pastime - tea time. More interesting are the people that flock to these tea gardens - beautiful, fashionable youth, which Bursa never seems to run out of.
CANDIED CHESNUT
by Arkeolog
Bursa is famous for its Doner, silk, mosques and also candied chestnut. Best brand is KAFKAS.
There are plenty of chestnut trees around Bursa. The sole species of chestnut, of which there are 16 species in the world, found in Turkey is the Anatolian chestnut (Castanea sativa), which grows over a broad area extending from the shores of Northern Anatolia to deep within the Marmara region and up to the Aegean. With a long life span of around 500 years, chestnuts are among the most majestic trees of the Anatolian forests with their giant stature that can reach as high as 30 meters.

For 600 years Bursa has been Turkey's most important silk and textile center, maintaining this status since the republic. The city has seen great development with automotive, food and machine sectors being added to its textile industry. One of the main roads passing through the plain of Bursa, the Yalova road, is lined with hypermarkets and business centers. One of these is the Bursa Textile Trade Center whose construction completed. It is expected, all the textile offices will move to the building.

At the entrance to Koza Han, tea shops catch ones attention. Sitting by the central fountain on a rush stool drinking coffee is an unforgettable experience. Each coffee cup is decorated with timeless designs.
