Green beach Resort report

I have just come back from the green beach Resort in Gundogan.
We stayed at the hotel from the 15-22nd June 2007 . I was travelling with my mother who has never been to turkey before. When we arrived at bodrum airport we where told that the hotel that we had booked (regal resort) in torba had been doubled booked so they upgraded us to the 5star deluxe Green Beach resort. I was to tired to argue i was worried on where and what this hotel might be like. As i had no knowledge of this hotel. When we got to the hotel my mouth dropped on how big this place looked from out side. The interior was amazing and spacious. we where taking to our rooms straight a way by the bell boy. The room was big, bright and beautifully decorated which was sea view facing which we had asked for.The hotel was on a very big scale in side and out side, the grounds where surrounded by pretty pink flowers every where you would look brushed up against the sandy cream walls of the hotel. The staff where very help full they would run round to for fill your every need there. There was a lot of different variety of dishes for dinner the hotel in all was spectacular The only problem was that in a big hotel like this they should of had a pay phone box. This was the biggest problem as the nearest local shops where 15 minutes down the hill and Bodrum city center was a 45 min journey. The hotel is based up in the mountains the ride to and from the hotel is very bumpy as there are very steep hills so this would not be suited for the mature traveller. I would like to suggest that if you come to Bodrum its better to stay in the main city than to be in the out skirts purely as you will save time travelling back and fourth to the city like we did. I sure will be going back to this hotel with my husband. And to those who have children this would be ideal as they have 2 pools for kids and lots of entertainment for them. From a very happy holiday maker Shaz from Brighton
best hotel we have stayed in....

are the critics staying at the same hotel? my wife and i stayed all inclusive for 1 week early May during a quiet period without any preconceived opinions of this hotel, we read a few poor reviews BUT we were delightfully surprised.
The first impression arriving in reception was not unlike a cruise liner, magnificent marbled decor, clean and tidy as was the splendid room overlooking the bay.
Ther were so many surprising facilities unfolding on our first day i.e wonderful restaurant, superb choice of foods incl. salad bars hot food local and universal cuisine i challenge anyone to say there was no choice!
A big thanks to the 'Animation Team' a lively bunch of young enthusiastic guys (& gals) who endeavoured to keep guests occupied during the day and also entertaining us each evening (no pressure to participate, one can escape in the extensive grounds of this hotel to enjoy tranquility)
e will DEFINITELY return next year but during May cos i hear there can be up to 1200 guests mid-season .
Fantastic value for money ,best holiday hotel we have stayed in.

Why oh why are people saying all this stuff about the Green Beach!!!!
We went as a party of four, and stayed in the main hotel, reception staff were courteous and friendly, there were bellboys to take your luggage to you rooms, which were exceptionally clean and well appointed, and then as we arrived at 5.30am, we were invited into the bar for a drink, the barman , (jaffa!) made us feel very welcome, even to the point of waking up a chef to make us some sandwiches!! the pool was clean, if a little chilly! the poolside was always kept tidy, the hotel staff couldnt do enough for you emptying ashtrays at the first sign of ash! the food was excellent and plentiful, with a good variety at every meal, drinks were all swiftly and accurately served, and then carried to your table, a special mention must go to the bar staff, Jaffa, Mike, Mehmet, and the Head Barman Nayim, a friendlier bunch you could never wish to meet! they acknowledge you whenever they were passing, always busying themselves making sure the bar was clean, tidy and well staffed, the Animation team worked tirelessly to entertain all the guests, making sure you werent either left out, or felt under pressure to join in, children are their speciality, they always seemed to have time to play football, or table tennis, or just generally swim and play with them, and they did it all genuinely because they loved it, not because they were getting paid to be there, so a big hi to FooFoo, Swiss, Alex and the team. Indoor pool was excellent, spa and wellness centre was amazing, shops in the resort were expensive (selling leather coats in 30 degree heat!) went to bodrum on the dolmus which leaves from the hotel reception every half hour (cost £4 return!) great place for shopping, the bars are a little expensive, but hey, nowhere near what you pay in england. overall, excellent hotel, great staff, good food, clean, well presented, plenty to do and see, value for money is excellent,5star, i'd say so, we will DEFINATELY be returning there in october, and cant wait! if we had to be really picky, the only two things we found to be in need of attention is 1. restaurant closes at about 9pm, and off season, you cant get anything really until 7am as the snack bar is closed, not much use when you have had a few lagers and need a bite to eat! 2. there needs to be a fluent english speaker on or around reception, but these are as we say, small things in the big picture, great holiday!!!

this is the first time i have stayed at this hotel and reading reviews about it before going concerned me until i arrived at the hotel. we were greeted by friendly pleasant staff who showed us to our room which was spotless and great views.
when we got up in the morning the views were even more breath taking. we went down for breakfast which had magnificant choices and very helpful kitchen and dinning staff.
The staff asked if we needed anything and they served us from our tables which we had never experienced before in an all inclusive.
Every year we go at leat twice to turkey all inclusive and have never experinced such great class service as this.
i would highly recommend this loacation to anyone as my wife and i had such an amazing time.
this hotel we have been told is under new management which is probably why it has had bad reviews in the past definately staying here again at the end of this year.
Green Beach- no beach and miles from anywhere
by TripAdvisor Member Bluenan
The lobby of this hotel is magnificent, most of the staff are friendly but very few understand english. My room was above the disco
and I requested a room change but am still waiting!! Also not all the
rooms have abalcony. The hotel is full of russians who are the most arrogant, ignorant and rudest people that I have ever met. The entertainment like everything else is based around the russians. The food is repetitive and 1 night they ran out of food. this is a 24 hour ultra inclusive hotel but there was no food available after 9-30pm. Some of the drinks ran out after a few days.
While there are ample lifts within the hotel and also 1 outside there are lots of steps and very steep ramps and so therefore no good for people with a walking disability.
1 lady was in tears as she had raw sewage coming out of her bathroom sink, she had been asking for days to be moved to no avail, she had 2 young children and there was nothing that they could eat and when she spoke to them she was informed that the hotel didnot cater for children, she just wanted to go home.
The hotel was relaxing during the day but very boring at night. I also suggest that if you like lime with your drinks to take it with you as they just don't understand what you are asking for even when you point to it. The waiters in the dining room take your plates before you finish your meal and often there are no seats so you have to keep returning to the dining room to get a table.
The good points are the view from the window and some of the staff, the maid was fantastic and the room was spotless. I would not return to this hotel it is miles from any where at the top of a very steep hill, they advertise fish, kebab and Italian nights but although we tried we could not get booked on one. This is definately not a 4 or 5 * hotel it is 3* at the very most.
Great find!

We booked this on the internet not sure what we were going to. We were not disappointed! Hotel was great. It has 5 pools one with slides but our favourite was the rock pool, it was soo peaceful.
The only thing that let it down was the lack of evening entertainment.
GOOD LUCK YOU MIGHT JUST NEED IT

I have just returned from the green beach hotel where i stayed for two weeks 22/6/07 till 6/7/07 with my partner we are both aged 26, First the hotel itself is very nice, at the moment it has 1600 guest the hotel can not cater for all these guest and this is the main problem, part of the hotel which has not been opened in years are being opened which are mainly the rooms like the [--] hole we had for a room which was dirty, aircon not working some day, room cleaned hardly ever, no fresh towels, no clean bedding this is not a joke ! no lighting so at night you could hardly see how to get to our room we found our way on our bums wires hanging out the wall by our room, i spent alot of time in hotel reception trying to get help but the managemet is [--] ! really its not his fualt as there was me and 20 others with the same problems. Hotel food we only ate twice beacuse it was like feeding time at the zoo and the food is taste less and the same thing again again. it is very hilly around the hotel and you are far from centre of bodrum it a 45 mins on the bus down the mountains to get there, but there is a little town at the bottom of the hill which was a life saver for a good meal at a good price. i could go on for ever about this hotel and i do feel sorry if you are reading this review as you are about to go there good luck you might just need it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fab hotel, must go!

I have just returned from a 1 week stay in the green beach hotel, gundogan, bodrum and i had a fabulous time.
The hotel itself is huge, over 3000 rooms, around 3 different pool areas and a few different bars to choose from. The club rooms which are situated around the main hotel are quite basic, but not bad considering the amount of time you spend in the rooms. For an extra cost you can upgrade to a hotel room which are more comfertable, but we was quote £15 per person per night which i did not want to spend!
The food is average, nothing fantastic but certainly not terrible. In the eveining there is always a selection of meats- chicked, lamb etc and always a fresh salad bar. There is also a nice selection of local deserts, some nice, some not so nice! Brekfast has the usual boiled eggs, toast, jams, cereals and cooked hotdog sausages etc. Lunch is good, burgers, chips and pizza available.
One night we went to a chinese resturent in bodrum centre called 'hong kong'. they provide a free taxi service to and from the resort, if you like chinese food its fab.
The drinks available is a great selection, they serve a wide range of fruit juices and fizzy drinks. The alcaholic drinks are also fantastic- beer, vodka, gin, bacardi, baileys, cherry brandy, malibu etc.
Inside the hotel they have got a beauty centre, you have got to try the turkish bath- amazing!
Getting into to bdorum is pretty painless. There is a bus every half hour into bodrum centre and costs 4.50 lira each way and takes approximately 45 mins. There is some great local shops there.
The entertainment in the hotel is ok, but brilliant for children. They always have music by the main pool with various mini sports and games.
We did have a few problems with the reception staff, they didnt seem to be able to speak very good english- it took us 5 hours to just get a bath plug! But they very helpful with the usual info.
Overall i had a brilliant time at the green beach and would deffinately go again- will post some pictures in a bit!
Second visit this year & STILL LOVE IT!!!
by TripAdvisor Member Edisthefish
I've got the post holiday blues.. I just didnt want to leave... This was our second visit this year. We( myself, hubby and 11 year old son) had such a great time in June that we just had to go again ( this time with my 18 year old daughter and sister).. and even better - everyone remembered us so made us feel more at home. One slight hiccup when we arrived in that we had booked 2 rooms either together or at least in the same block which was their original intention but the rooms were a bit out of the way of the main complex. However, when they recognised us they immediately reallocated us nearer the pool area without even having to ask and told me my sister and daughter would be moved the next day when the room was available. Was really good of them and a nice touch. Would definitely recommend any rooms starting 21XX-22XX for location in complex their the ones to the right of the pool looking in from the sea. Obviously the hotel was alot busier than in June but it had lost none of its friendliness, cleanliness or charm. The rooms are clean and kept clean by hard working staff - towels are changed daily and room made up, toilet rolls replenished etc if required every day -some nice touches in decorating the beds etc by them and are well deserved of a tip when leaving room at end of holiday.Food was ample, varied and fresh., although queues a bit longer for the show cooking stations but waiting staff were excellent, replenishing drinks, cutlery, clearing plates etc. Bar staff, were as usual, excellent, even remembering rounds when you came to the bar. The animation team where superb, plenty of activities during the day for the adults and the great kids club for the younger guests. My special hello to Michel, Yosef, Swisse (Atef) Nemo, FuFu, Alex and Bellina and all the other guys and girls who I have missed naming. They all worked hard every day and evening to put on activies and shows to entertain all.... And all introductions were in about 7 different language via Magic - a talented entertainment manger - so everyone new what was going on. The hotel caters for many nationalites although on the second visit there were alot more Russian guests and the really are a very rude breed especially the younger ones who came in small groups and who seemed to find it acceptable to jump queues throw tantrums when the believed they were being ignored by staff ( which you cant really blame them for given how these particular 'guests' treated them) Out and about, the local bus servise, dolmuses, call at the hotel every half hour to take you to Gundogan ( 1.50 lira) or Bodrum ( 4.50 lira) and both are worth a visit. Gundogan is a place to wander round and to eat in - alot less expensive than Bodrum if you fancy something to eat other than the hotel as a change. There is lady called Lynn who has a local estate agency in the town and is from Sheffield and is really helpful for local information. If you do visit her, tell her Eddie from Ballymena says hello. All in all, was defintely not disappointed the second time round and are even considering it again for an early summer break next year. Jacqui, Eddie, Matthew, Gail & Megz
Filthy, and Badly Run - What a waste
by TripAdvisor Member MicheleofKent
We have just returned, and finally got over a bout of sickness and tummy bugs. That tells you a little of how this review is going to go! Firstly, this was not the hotel of our choice as GTS Hotels changed our hotel 3 times within 48 hours of our departure therefore having no choice in where we stayed. We arrived at 6am, and knew immediately that the hotel was not clean, as the tables in the Dining Room were dirty, food was on the floor in the corners, and the public toilets still unclean from the day before. Realising that it being Peak Season, we had no choice but to make the best of it. The beds in the bungalow apartments were rock hard and my husband myself and our 3 children all had problems sleeping. There was a scrum for sun beds round the 4 pools and I had no choice but to push my husband out at 7.30 each morning to bag some beds and shades (which were in short supply). If you can't beat them join them!
The food was OK - however in anyone wants to know what they are eating then there is little chance as not labelled and very few staff speak English. Russians smoked constantly in the Dining Room and after day 2, even though this was an all inclusive, we took the 45 minute ride into Bodrum rather than have to deal with the Dining Experience!
The good news: The Hotel is placed on an amazing pennisula with fabulous views over the Bay and the sea breeze keeps you cool - with such a fantastic position, it amazed me how little the management thought about cleanliness as no matter how great the view, if you look down, all you can see is food, debris, and filthy sunloungers. I would never return to the Green Beach - what a waste of such a fantastic location
