I stayed in Hostels and Pensions and enjoyed my stay in them. The myth about sharing a room with six others and waking up and all your belongings have disappeared is for the fairy tales. all hotels have a safe you can hand in your pasport and money to them and it is very secure. The rest of your property if u share a dorm you will come across people who are just like u Fun and good company.
cheap believe me. I should know. they will not burn a hole in your pocket.
all the above had good rooms clean washing facilities. Bar and TV room very friendly staff and very funny. And very very very helpful.
Ferah and Flinstones have a swimming pool all except orient have a free pick up and drop off service to the bus station.
Ferah pensions have the best of the best evening meals for about 5 million liras Monica cooks up a feast up until today no one has been able to finish their plate if u do there is always 2nd and 3rd helpings.
Price per night between $6 - $8 the cheapest that would be dorm rooms.
Great views for Orient, Flinstones ,Ferah

When in Istanbul, I believe you must stay in a hotel in the new city, somewhere near Taksim square. The old city is DEAD at night, so unless you want some peace of mind, stay in one of the hotels near Taksim. The 4 stars hotels are nice and not expensieve (ofcourse that is a relative matter...) The hotels at the coasts are very good,but not very cheap.It is better that you take a hotel in the local town(these are also good,and they are cheaper!!)
