Stayed five nights at this very nice hotel, sort of in-between the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar, about five minutes away from a tram station. In particular we liked the roof top restaurant where they served breakfast, with beautiful views and a very nice spread. We had no problem with the location, but would not recommend it to older folks or single women - it´s on rather steep and dark streets.

You can see the best view of Golden horn/Halic from Pier Loti peak.
French writer Pierre Loti saw Istanbul at 1876 fro the first time and loved there, stayed for years and wrote many books about Turks. This peak has his name for years. There is street and coffee shop with his name too.
Some of his books:
Aziyadé (1879, Aziyade)
Le Roman d'un Spahi (1881, Bir Sipahinin Romani)
Pécheur d'Islande (1886, Izlanda Balikçisi)
Madame Chrysanthème (1887, Madam Krizantem)
Le Roman d'un Enfant (1890, Bir Çocugun Romani)
Le Livre de la Pitié et de la Mort (1891, Acima ve Ölümün Kitabi)
Ramuntcho (1897)
Reflets de la Sombre Route (1899, Karanlik Yol Üzerindeki Yansýmalar)
Les Désenchantées (1906, Mutsuz Kadinlar)
La Turquie Agonisante (1913, Can Çekisen Türkiye)
Prime Jeunesse (1919, ilk Gençlik)
Un Jeune Officier Pauvre (1923, Zavalli Genç Bir Subay)

would you please advise me the way to get from Istanbul airport to the Aziyade Hotel (2 persons)
many thanks
Alicemaude
As you exit the arrival hall at the airport you will see a queue of taxis outside. This is the easiest way to get to your hotel. But it will be easier if you have a street map of Istanbul and you have identified where your hotel is located so you have something to show the taxi driver, or at the very least a piece of paper with the hotel's address written down in Turkish script. Ask at the Tourist Information desk inside the airport for a map or for whatever other assistance you might need to help you communicate with the driver.
The taxi will cost 15-20 US dollars. Here is a cheaper way if you like. Leave the arrival hall of the airport, cross the street and follow the "city center" sign which will lead you to the subway. Take the subway; you pay about 1,2 USD for two, but make sure you change money before you leave the airport in this case, as they will not accept foreign currency for the subway. Get off at the last stop, Aksaray. Then, take the taxi; that would cost less than 3 USD. However, if you don't mind walking with your luggages, the hotel is about 15 minutes by foot to the subway. Did you checked with Azyade hotel about transport? If not check it beacuse most of Istanbul hotels are offering free Airport transfer for theyr guests.

Q: day boat trip to black sea at end of November? "Hi! I'll be in Istanbul in the last week of November and first week of December. Do the boats still run to the Black Sea for..."
A: "I don't know if they will run then, but anyway they don't quite go all the way to the Black Sea, only nearly."
