Very nice hotel in Istanbul

I can recommend Hotel Daphne, I stayed there in 2004 shortly after it opened, the staff were extremely helpful and the rooms are very nicely appointed.

Breakfast was included in the price and was fairly average, not as much variety as some other hotels I have stayed in Istanbul, but still sufficient.

They were also very nice sending me an email at Christmas time and on my birthday.

Unique Quality: Very nice views.

Small but beautiful

Hotel Daphne is a shiny jewel of a place, in Sultanahmet only two minutes' stroll from the Hippodrome (At Meydani).
The hotel takes its name from a Byzantine palace that once stood beside the Hippodrome.
There's a sense of refinement and style in the 18 guest rooms and two suites that one would expect in a more expensive hotel. All the modern comforts are here, of course, including TVs (some flat-screen models), sophisticated individual remote-controlled air-conditioning units, satin bed coverlets, minibars, private safes for your valuables, piped-in music, hair-dryers and combination tub-and-showers in the private bathrooms, wireless Internet throughout the hotel, an elevator/lift to take you to the five floors, and English-speaking staff.
Because of the hotel's position, all rooms enjoy sunshine and marvelous Sea of Marmara views. Top-floor rooms have small balconies.
Perched at the top of a slope, the hotel faces south toward the sea across a historic mosque and ruined dervish hall. Because these historic buildings cannot be changed, there is nothing to block the hotel's view. The panorama is best from the rooftop restaurant-bar-cafe of course, but there are even good sea views from the lobby. A bonus: partial view of the Byzantine church-turned-mosque called the Little Ayasofya Mosque (Küçük Ayasofya Camii) which is just down the hill from the hotel.

Great Location with Incredible Views

We would highly recommend this hotel - service was great, very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed dining on the terrace - view from the terrace was one of the best in all of Istanbul! We walked to the mosques, museums, Turkish Baths and the Grand Bazaar. When we come back to Istanbul, we'll stay at the Daphne! Charming rooms, great views!

Our Specıal place ın Istanbul

We have been to Istanbul 4 tımes and we have stayed at the Hotel Daphne on our 3 best visits (the first tıme was on a cruise and we didn't get to really see the city). We were introduced to the Daphne by a friend who travels to İstanbul several times a year and knows the city well. This place is a gem! small, ıntİmate, comfortable, quiet and charmiıng. The rooms are clean, the beds very comfortable, the vıews marvelous and the breakfast large and delicious. We have found the staff to be honest, frıendly and very helpful. Each tıme we have returned we have been greeted like family. The Daphne is a wonderful haven and a perfect homebase in the midst of the bustle of İstanbul.

This is a lovely hotel. The rooftop terrace is the best part. You have a 360 degree view of Istanbul. The staff is excellent. It only has 19 rooms, so they are very attentive to you. We were only passing through for 1 day, so they helped us plan our day. It's a 5 min walk to the Blue Mosque and 10 min to the Grand Bazaar. Exellent price. Very cute rooms !

Fantastic hotel, great price and location!!!

This hotel was very nice, located very close to all of the best places in the old city. Major monuments very, very nearby include Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and Basilica Cistern (the latter of which is AMAZING!!!). My wife and I stayed here and the service was perfect, as were the rooms. There is a nice flat-screen TV in every room and air conditioning, along with a great bathroom (full bath and shower). Many rooms have an ocean view... if you want such a room, call ahead and see if you can book one, they're great (at no extra charge)!

Again, the service is great, you can hang around in the bar area, where there's a computer to use with free internet access. Alternatively, you can go to the roof for a beautiful dinner at sunset, or just hang around and have a drink while payers are called... it's am AMAZING experience if you're Western and have never heard prayers called from every corner of a city. This hotel's roof is truly fantastic for such an experience (the first night we stayed here we went to the roof and heard a cacophony of prayer calls... truly amazing).

My wife and I could not recommend this place more for the price (which is great for the amenities included!). Enjoy Istanbul, we did while staying at the Daphne!

fabulous views

i stayed here with a group trip organised by anatolian sky on the last night on our trip around western turkey. it was a lovely ending to our holiday. the furnishings in the room the cleanliness and the fabulous views from our balcony and from the roof terrace where we had dinner at night were great. the staff were very friendly and helpful and put me to shame with their language skills.
finishing our holiday with a candlelit supper looking over the old quarter in one direction the harbour and the other the blue mosque with swifts circling around it is a memory i will hold for ever.

Really nothing to complain about !

I chose the hotel after reading reviews on this site and emailed the hotel for my booking. They offered a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and gave a 10% discount on 7 nights in the top corner suite, provided I payed cash. The welcome was very friendly and helpfull and I was shown several rooms I could choose from. The top corner suite was somewhat larger and had a convenient lay out and most of all a spectacular view from a small balcony. The general feeling of the room was very cosy and relaxing. The individual airco worked very well and quiet.Breakfast was wonderfull as well.We had dinner several times on the top terrace. There was a choice of two set menus at a very reasonable price and à la carte at a higher but still reasonable price.Service was very friendly and the food was excellent. All of the staff was extremely friendly and trying to make guests feel at home.Because of it's quiet and yet central location and the overall quality of the services and the comfort of the rooms, this hotel and the staff really contributed a great deal to my stay in Istanbul.
