by Micksull

I'm arriving in Istanbul next week and am looking for advice on a reasonable but cheap hostel for 4 or 5 nights. I'm not looking for party hostel...i like the option not the requirement to party!!

I stayed at the metropolis hostel when I was in Istanbul the last time and that is a small and cheap hostel with no bar and in a quiet street.
Should you feel like a drink then it´s only a black away, but the hostel is generally quiet at night.
They have both privates and dorms there.

I will actually be in Istanbul myself next week and stay somewhere around there so you can beat me up if i am lying :O)

Not a hostel, but a decent & very reasonably-priced hotel : Deniz Konak, in a very good location in Sultanahmet, overlooking the Sea of Marmara.

They have a sister hotel right opposite: Sultan's Inn.

Check them out; www.sultansinn.com

I am an active member in both couchsurfing and hospitalityclub. Yes, there are thousands of members in Istanbul to stay for free of charce.

Hotel and hostel owners don't like them naturally, but they are great for budget and cultural travellers :)

Cheers.

I just stayed at the Tulip Guesthouse in Sultanahmet and it was awesome. Cheap, clean and quiet, but also really close to things in the area. The guys that run it were really helpful and there was no bar/club or anything there.

Travel Tips for Istanbul

Where to stay

by AlperIst

Hi Donna,

If you want to be in the middle of touristic area, Sultanahmet is the righ place. But if you want to be inside the city itself and close to the action, Taksim/Beyoglu area is the best.

Cheers.

Aya Sofia Sunset

by Lion_Beat

This one I tooked behind Hagia Sofia. There is a small niciest small street behind Aya Sofia, and in the evening it's even more beutiful. And it's so quit their... you wouldn't even say you are in Istanbul!
Just find the time to go there in the evening. You will not regret it!

Hamman: the Turkish bath

by Svillegas

You musn't leave Turkey without visiting a hamman. Please yourself with a bath and some masages, leave and abandon yourself while two hands are creating a new person. It's like having born again!

Although men can enjoy more this experience (they are given more massages than women) I highly recommed it. There are some where man an women can be together, by most of them have separated rooms for different sexes.

VISIT THE PRINCES ISLANDS......

by TOURMALINE

IT IS VERY EASY TO GO THE ISLANDS. THERE ARE 7 ISLANDS LOCATED IN THE SEA OF MARMORA. YOU CAN TAKE BOATS FROM ''EMINONU POART'' TO THE ISLANDS. IT TAKES ABOUT 1 HOUR. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE FAST BOATS THAT ARRIVES TO THE ISLAND IN ABOUT 20 MINUTES.
