The Alzer Hotel and Restaurant is a charming Ottoman style hotel located right in the heart of Sultanahmet in facing the Hippodrome and the Blue Mosque. The entrance to the hotel is from its equally excellent restaurant.
Unique Quality: The rooms have views of the Blue Mosque and Hippodrome and are decorated in a blend of Ottoman and Western style. There is a chandelier in each room and even the telephone is an antique rotary-style telephone.
Directions: Facing the Hippodrome
We stayed here in April 2007, its location is probably its best point as its across the road from the blue mosque. The room we had was facing the street and was perfectly fine clean and spacious. On the first night we were awoken by the call to prayer at four in the morning, it has a certain charm the first time you hear it but the other mornings we could have done without it. Breakfast was quite good with loads of asian fruits, figs, dates etc. The restaurant is several floors up and has superb views of the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara with its bumper to bumper of ships and liners. There was one waiter who there who plagued us to have dinner in the restaurant in the hotel throughout our stay, unfortuneatly we should have politely refused from the beginning. The food is fine and basic in the evening but you probably would be the only one there in the restaurant as there a several much better places within walking distance of the hotel. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
We loved our friends at Alzer. I have never met such wonderful and warm hotel staff. We were welcomed as family members and treasured patrons. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Hopefully, they will always remember how much the Ammericans appreciate their warmth, understanding and kindness. Istanbul is an incredible city steeped in culture, tradition and most importantly hospitality.

Unique Quality: Alzer Hotel is the only hotel located at the center of Sultanahmet’s historical hippodrome where the cultures and religions meet.
The hotel gives you taste of these differences by it’s location,
mystically renovated building and traditional Turkish hospitality.
The hotel is facing The Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet) and is literally
within five minutes walking distance from Hagia Sophia,
Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar
Directions: topkapi palace, blue mosque, st. sophia, grand bazaar
This is a very pleasant hotel right on the Hippodrome. Much of what you came to see in this city is in walking distance. They have an optional service to pick you up and drop you off at the airport. The staff was very helpful, and they can help you arrange a tour if you like. A breakfast is served on the top floor, where you have an awesome view of the Blue Mosque. Our room looked out to the column of Constantine on the Hippodrome as well as the Blue Mosque. As long as you don't mind hearing the calls to prayer (the first around 6AM), I recommend staying here. I would probably stay here again.
Unique Quality: It is right on the Hippodrome. Few places are so close to the sites as this hotel. It will take you a few minutes to reach the Blue Mosque.
Alzer Hotel lies in front of Sultanahmed Mosque. You´ll find Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace and the blue mosque within 1000m. This photo was taken from the terrace of Alzer Hotel.
Hi,
After spending some time looking for hotels in Istanbul for my honeymoon I can't find anything with a good suite for a honeymoon near the Blue Mosque. I was considering the Alzer hotel hippodrome room but it seems kinda basic. I am looking for a room upto 150 Euros and as close as possible to the Blue Mosque. Any recommendations?
Thanks

mmmm..... this may not be what you are looking for.. But I stayed at this hotel last year when I went to Istanbul and I had a great time. I met a few very nice couples while having breakfast there. It is not a 5 star hotel, but comfortable, clean, great friendly staff. And also very close to the Blue Mosque and other touristy places.
Have you had a look at the Dersaadet Hotel http://www.hoteldersaadet.com/rates_.htm or Angel's Home -- they are both near the Blue Mosque and seem quite romantic. The price depends on what time of year you are traveling.
If you can get a corporate rate you may stay at Four seasons hotel..
If not, Uyan otel ( http://www.uyanhotel.com/ ) has very nice rooms and a honeymoon deluxe.. it is very near to blue mosque..
Check also Nena Hotel.. Dont know if they have honeymoon suite..

Hi Furmen
I suggest you to stay in Fours seasons which is the best of the area.
good luck
Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I have requested a reservation at Uyan Hotel, I may have to change rooms from the Honeymoon Suite to the Deluxe suite after a few days but both rooms seem equally good. I hope the hotel is a good as people have said it is :)
Try Seven Hills hotel. www.sevenhillshotel.com ..it has a perfect blue mosque and saint sophia view. the hotel and rooms are quite nice, much better than Uyan Hotel (just nearby Seven Hills) and Dersaade.. even dont try Alzer or Nena; you can be disappointed. but of course, if you can increase your budget, Four Seasons would be the best idea!
u may have a look at bookingistanbulhotels.com
