Hi - we're heading to Istanbul a few days after you leave. Istanbul has Time Out magazine so you can pick up a copy when you're there to see what's happening. In the meantime, you can check out www.timeout.com/travel/istanbul/seasonal.html - for some info. Have a great time!

You may look at the concert details from www.biletix.com .

You may call them also and buy the tickets from their agents. Also, after you see the details and concert place, you may directly go to the concert place to buy.

Travel Tips for Istanbul

Clever people

by Aitana

Turk sellers adapt easily to the tourists’ origin and tastes. They are able to speak to you in your language whatever it is. They learn easily the last jokes on your language and use it to attract you to heir shop. For instance, as many Spaniards visit Istanbul, references to Carrefour prices and El Corte Inglés quality were a friendly way to interest us.

raki-spirit of anatolia

by voyageur2

ouzo is the spirit of greece, so is raki for turkey. if you have no problem with its anisette taste, it can easily ce your lifelong drink. anyway you have to pay attention to its magic-its alcohol usualy around 40% vol. Never drink it like beer or wine. Some olive oil is highly recommended before drinking. Meat or fish are always friend of raki. Additionaly meze selection is also important.
If you like it, you may purchase at the airport duty free in a good price and quality.

Besiktas Stadium

by Willettsworld

Officially known as the Besiktas Inonu Stadium, this football stadium is just across the busy road from the Dolmabahçe Palace and is where club Besiktas play. It was built in 1947 and has a capacity of 32,145 (all-seater). It was the first modern football stadium in Istanbul and was home to the three perennial rivals of Besiktas J.K.; Galatasaray S.K. and Fenerbahce S.K., since it was the only modern stadium in Istanbul until the 1960s. Between 1921 and 1939, the three clubs had previously played at the Taksim Stadium on Taksim Square, which was located inside the courtyard of the Ottoman era Taksim Artillery Barracks that was built by Sultan Abdulmecid I in the 1840s.

Cemberlitas (the burnt column).

by leics

This burnt column, hooped together for stability, lies on Veniceriler Caddesi (a continuation westwards of Divan Yolu Caddesi).

Known also as the 'Column of Constantine' it dates from 330AD and was erected by Constantine when the city became the capital of the Byzantine Empire....what might be called the post-Roman Roman empire.

Damage caused by an earthquake in 416 resulted in the iron hoops, and the burning occurred in the 1779 fire (which destroyed much of this part of the city).

In the street

In Portugal we use to say that "one image speaks more than 1000 words". Having that in mind, and more than 1000 pictures to post, I decided to change my behaviour, posting the pictures as soon as they are ready, and adding the comments later.
Don't get mad on me - I'm glad to share my pictures with you, and the comments will be added soon.
