I had a great stay at Hotel Spina. The rooms were comfortable and well decorated. The staff are incredibly helpful and the location is great. You can't go wrong with this hotel. Internet is available for use. The hotel will arrange transfers to airports and etc. They will also arrange for your laundry. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Hotel Spina is an Ottoman-style wooden hotel in Istanbul's old city. The hotel has a cool architectural vibe to it, because it was converted to a hotel from a 19th century multilevel house. The lobby with a cool arch design and the balcony upstairs were my favorite hang outs. The staff takes pride in serving "traditional Turkish hospitality."
This was a very comfortable and cozy hotel. The rooms were quiet and warm. Rooms were not too big, but had enough space to where I didn't feel over crowded at all. We went during early spring before the big tourist season, so Sultanhamet was mellow and inviting. The staff was very quiet and helpful. They gave recommendations on where to eat and what would be good for us to do on the first day.
I came in a day late because my plane was stuck in a rain storm and because I had booked with Travelocity, I couldn't get a refund on the night I missed(Luckily I had travel insurance). But they did give me a discount on one of the rooms that I had booked.
If you are going on a romantic getaway as a couple, my friends said that their Suite was really nice. They called it the "boom boom" room.
The price for this accommodation was very reasonable. They offer deals time to time if you book through the their website (below). The name of the manager is Ramiz Polat.
Unique Quality: The balcony Dining area was the best feature. It was warm while we were there and it was a treat to eat their complimentary breakfast while sipping Turkish tea on the roof.
The favorite aspect of this hotel is that it was just a few steps away from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The view was very nice. You can see all the way to the Marmar Sea from the glass-walled roof top dining room.
Some of the rooms don't have a view at all. So make sure you ask if a room with a good view is available. My room looked out to the courtyard between the Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque.
Even though we didn't have any problems, the staff did admit that they had recently repaired their plumbing because people were throwing things that they shouldn't into the toilet. But since it's been fixed, I'd imagine it wouldn't be a problem anymore
