THe chipest hotels in Sultanahmet area are Asur Hotel, Santa Sofia Hotel and may be Golden Crown. But it depends on the agency you purchase the rooms from. If I remmember exactly I booked my hotel at turkeytps.com, the best prices are there. d

The Orsep Hotel is in the heart of the Sirkeci area of Istanbul.
The rooms were simple, clean, and had all the basic amenities (toilet, shower, t.v., airconditioning).
The service was impeccable, with the friendly staff going out of their way to assist whenever they could.
All staff spoke some English.
Unique Quality: As the hotel is in the historic part of Istanbul, it is within walking distance to the Topkapi Palace, the Underground Cistern, and the Aya Sofya.
There are many other hotels and bars closeby.
Note: the name of this hotel has now changed to Asur Hotel Istanbul

Had a big room with TV and bathroom. Can't remember if I paid 15 or 17,5 miljon for one night. Two nights and laundry was
37 500 000 TL though (breakfast included). The beds are big and very confortable.
I was very happy that they had a laundryservice, but I also had cloths that had to be handwashed. I asked for a big bowl and got one (not all hotels like you to do your own washing in the room). That was very kind of them.
In 2 days I will be travelling to Istanbul so please tell me what is the cheapest or the easiest way to get from airport to my hotel in Hocapasa?
Is it safe to go out at night? Thank you
Hi, from Ataturk take the metro (light metro) to zeytinburnu where you change to the tramway , direction kabatas, stop at gulhane park. Very easy , cheap and safe. Which hotel are you staying in hocapasa?
I am staying at Asur hotel. I suppose metro isn't far from airport, is it?
Thank you very much for the quick information
Upon exiting from the main arrival gate of the airport, go to your right, walk just a little follow the M (Metro) sign approx. 10 to 15 meters I guess, you will see the escalator going down which is also on your right side, don't worry you wont miss that.
Go down the escalator and on your left side you will find the booth to buy your way to the Metro, insert the coin you purchased (or Akbil Pass - if you plan to stay longer in Istanbul, buy the Akbil pass, it's more convenient, ask the counter for more info) and get in, go down again to the train platform - here, there are two rails and both are just the same train because the airport (Havalimani station) is the last stop if you're coming from the city to the airport. So take the metro train... until Zeytinburnu station - again, you won't miss this because you will hear the station names everytime it stops and the train route is just on the header of the train's main entrance.
Get down at Zeytinburnu and walk just a couple of meters to the tramvay platform and take the next available tram that will take you to Sultanahmet. The tram is called Zeytinburnu - Besiktas or Kabatas tram. This tram will pass to almost all the places where tourists popularly stays - Aksaray - Laleli - Beyazit - Cemberlitas - Sultanahmet - Gulhane - Sirkeci - Eminonu......... and as mentioned above, you get down at Gulhane tram station.
then walk down to the street of your hotel which is in Ibn Kemal Cadessi, very near the Topkapi Palace and most sights in the historical peninsula.
checkout other transport tips in my istanbul page, you might need it later.

A few meters, just ask for metro, many tourists take it.
Thank you very much, this is helpful
