Istanbul - sultanahmed

This hotel has a very good location . It's just close to the Ayasofia - Sultanahmed
You can visit a lot without mooving too much. The hotel is made by typical wood houses. It means that the rooms are into the houses. The road is forbidden to the vehicular traffic ie You
will sleep very well . Considering the traffic in Istanbul center is very rare..

All the hotel employees are very friendly !!! ++

Unique Quality: The complex consists of 10 original wooden Ottoman mansions which were build to serve the higher ranking officials of the Ottoman Palace who were not allowed to stay inside the Topkapi Palace in the 18th century.

More about Ayasofya Hotel

Ayasofya Hotel near many of the best sights, quiet, friendly & affordable.

by TripAdvisor Member Trippytoo

The Ayasofya Hotel-- April 16, 2009-- Ferndale, California-Great little hotel in the Sultanahmet district. Well priced, friendly and accommodating staff, quiet, great breakfasts, good beds, hot water, fridge in room, tastfully decorated, internet service. It is walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia Church, Basilica Cistern, the trolley line, good shopping and not far from many other historical sights. We stayed for 5 days and then returned 10 days later for 4 more. The new owner is Austrialian, has great ideas and is renovating as I speak with lots of beautiful rugs, tiles, paintings and modern conveniences. There is also a buget restaurant with great food 5 minutes walk away called the "Doy Doy". Their rice pudding is divine.

Great place to stay while exploring Istanbul.

Gaye Reeves, the new owner of the Ayasofya Hotel provided above par service, outstanding breakfasts, along with very comfortable, homey rooms. Her staff were willing to help us with our every need. The location of the Ayasofya Hotel can't be beat, located on a quiet street, with the Blue Mosque, other major attractions and metro a mere 10 to 15 minutes walk from the front door.

Our staying to Aya Sofya hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Notis-Despina

We found AyaSofya Hotel through internet. When we talked on the phone with someone from the staff of the hotel we didn't know that this person was the actual manager of the hotel. She and all the other staff were very friendly and were all the time anxious if we were feeling comfortable enough. They picked us up from the train station and they had been waiting for us even though our train was 2 hours late.It was also such a nice surprise to offer us the suite of the hotel for our first day there even though we had paid for a basic double room, not even a deluxed one.The second room of ours was also a very nice one, smaller one but very cosy for our romantic staying there. We even liked it more than the suite. The room was very clean, all the sheets, the towels and even the duvet were brand new.The building itself needs further rennnovation in the furniture for instance in order to compete with others more deluxed ones but this is only a small detail not important even to be mentioned. The breakfast was good and the location is very close to Aya Sofya,Blue Mosque,Top Kapi Palace,Basilika Cistern...which is very convenient for a tourist in order to find each way to the sightseeings of the town in his/hers first days there. We strongly recommend it,if you look for a nice, cozy, clean, convenient hotel to stay in.It is definetely the best value for your money!

Hotel with perfect location min from heart of Istanbul charming hotel ,helpful staff/owner a gem

by TripAdvisor Member gigi1121

The owner and staff of this hotel were absolutely wonderful. The hotel is located in a section of the city just blocks to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia in the heart of the city. There are charming restaurants and shops along with a bazaar close to the hotel . We found so much to do minutes from the hotel and we were even able to leave the hotel for Troy and Galipoli and return to the hotel to finish up our stay in Turkey at Hotel Ayasofya. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions . We just loved Turkey and our little charming hotel puts the icing on a fantastic trip

Friendly, convenient small hotel

by TripAdvisor Member ZeldaD

Ayasofya is under new management (Austrailian Gaye Reeves), and while the rooms need some improvements (mainly the showers), it is friendly and so very convenient in the Sultanahmet area.

A great base to explore Istanbul

by TripAdvisor Member SlobodanNarnia

Had a really great week here over Easter 2009. A few minutes walk from the main tourist site and tram stop. The staff were really thoughtful and went to great lengths to help arrange a visit to the Florence Nightingale museum. Everywhere was clean, water was hot, and breakfast was excellent. Local restaurants and shops off the usual tourist beat were nearby and it's only a short walk to the coast. What more could you want?

An honest account

by TripAdvisor Member herschell87

Arriving early at 08.45 hrs weary and dishevelled after a four day train journey from London, we were warmly welcomed and whisked to an excellent and generous breakfast. The owners, Gaye & Michelle plus their staff, are caring and efficient. The hotel is well organised, rooms spotless, secure and good value. Despite its central location, only eight minutes walk to the Blue Mosque, the area is amazingly quiet at night. We had booked for 3 nights but stayed a week, had a great time and look forward to a return visit. Dennis & Maire Hill
