 | Istanbul Reviews | Tips 41 - 50 of 688 | | This is a boutique hotel that CANNOT be recommended. It is located next to railroad tracks, in an area that appears to be surrounded by gypsies--not that I had any trouble with them in Turkey. The young kids would come up pleading, Money? Money?" The room I stayed in had a bathroom that you had to keep the window open to air the gasses that came up from the toilet. Water is advertised as being hot 24 hours. It wasn't. Maybe I overlooked them, but I don't remember seeing the restaurant and bar they picture in there brochure. The open buffet breakfast was bread, feta cheese, jam, olives, cucumber and tomatoes. Tea and instant coffee. I think that was it. So, why did I stay there? See my Istanbul Introduction on my travel pages for more details. My recommendation: With so many hotels in the area, go elsewhere. Talking with Rina at Insight Travel (www.tour-turkey.com or e-mail: info@tour-turkey.com) about accommodations may help keep you out of the trouble I got myself into. You might consider emailing her about arranging your lodgings. She was friendly, open, and a good communicator. I recently received a note from the new owner of this hotel. He may be trying to improve upon the previous owners record, but unless a REALLY great deal can be struck, I'd try elsewhere. Leave a Comment

Our stay at hotel ANtique was a good /comfortable/ rooms where small but clean good air con/good shower :-)) / clean sheets/ nice views. Also a very good turkish breakfast. I would highly recomend this as a good place to stay for a few days maybe three or four at the most. as you are only realy using it to sleep in. Also it is idealy located being in the Sultanahmet district and only a five minute walk from the blue mosque/ topkapi palace and all the other main attractions
they have a great view from the roof terrace overlooking the Blue mosque and brilliant views across the bosphorous seeing all the ships and ferries sailing up and down. while sitting having breakfast Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: hotel ANtique is right behind the blue mosque about a five minute walkPhone: +90-212-516-09-97Directions: Sultanahmet districtWebsite: http://www.hotelantique.com

Serching the web we find this Hotel which appered to be a nice and confortable place to spent our one week inroad to Istanbul. With 25 USD / night/2 persons, with breakfast included, private bath, daily cleaning of the room and towel and bedding shifts, I think it was the best deal we could have found. Don't think about luxury accomodation there, just a clean place to spend your sleeping night. It is also veru close to Laleli Camyie , from where you take the tram and go directly to Sultanahmet area (3 stops away). You have here a little map for locating it, but also check their web adress: www.mayahotel.com Leave a Comment

The service here was what you'd expect from a 5* hotel -- nothing was too much trouble. The receptionists were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about sightseeing, restaurants, directions, etc. Denis Duyar, the owner-manager is a young man with a three-generation background in hotel management ... and it shows. The place runs like clockwork and has some nice extras like free broadband wi-fi and a laptop everyone can use. The rooms are spacious, spotless and comfortable. Ours (a double and a single on the third, top, floor) had great views of of the sea, mosques and ancient rooftops. There's no restaurant, but a lovely roof terrace serves a good continental breakfast (which could be a little more inventive!) and cocktails at night. From there, you can see the Blue Mosque awesomely illuminated as well as the sea. Location-wise, the Desaadet couldn't be more convenient -- you're a short walk from all the major sights in the Sultanhamet area. We'll definitely return and can highly recommend this well-run jewel.

If you are looking for a hotel to be in the middle of Sultanahmet area, where all touristy attractions are very near, Nena Hotel is a very good alternative.. Recently one of my friend has stayed in this hotel. And I have learned about this hotel through her.. If you visit the web page you will see a nice hotel like most hotels, but it is also nice in reality.. A hotel of special class is serving for 3 years.. And a real quality hotel compared with its prices.. And more of it, it is just at the center of all activities.. If you book through an agent, you may get different rates.. But just by contacting directly with the Hotel and by good negotiations, we have received a quiet good price compared with the quality.. So I definitely advice you to contact with the hotel directly somehow.. (Rates may be high in July and August) Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averagePhone: +90 212 516 52 64Directions: Just near the tram way, on the Sultanahmet SquareWebsite: www.nenahotel.com
