 | Istanbul Reviews | Tips 671 - 677 of 677 | | We stayed in 4 hotels in Istanbul. The best located was the park hotel opposite the 4 seasons the others closer to the palace than the mosque (not very far away - all are easy walking)they were Denizkonak (I think from memory) and the sultans inn. All were ok 3 star nice people, basically clean and ok service with fair breakfasts. Nearer to the Grand bazaar was the pierre noir or name similiar - a little dearer but really a 4 star but you get more but overall -they all were not bad. If you going site seeing find somewhere in the sultanamet area and just walk. Dont get too excited about tours its all there no need for buses etc. tips: most hotels will arrange transfers to from airport & prices vary so ask before booking. It seems the hotels will take all bookings then if they have too many then they have a "plumbing problem" and take you to a sister hotel the sister hotels are very similiar hence our 3 budget hotels.(they TAKE you so you dont get lost etc) Lots of agencies for tours in sultanamet area so out of town trips are apiece of cake. Have a great trip & bring home great memories Don Theme: HotelComparison: about average

We stayed in this hotel for 1 week in june 2005 and when i say WE i mean 30 people. The place is not good at all for these reasons 1- there was no functioning airconditioning in that HOT summer ,the AC is central meaning that they must operate it for the whole hotel and as the manager said they cant afford the high electricity bills!!! He operated it after we agreed to bribe THE MANAGER with 100 USD a day starting from day 3. 2- Our luggage was searched daily when we go out on tours. we talked to the lobby manager and the hotel manager they denied. Our losses were our wives lipsticks and makeup powders and creams. 3-The safes are in the lobby but the keys are interchangable so me with key to safe 5 can open safe 12 of my friend. We decided not to put our valuables in the safes which was a bit awkward as turkey is well known for pickpocketing. 4-Breakfast was not that well but after all it is a 100 USD per night 2 star hotel

THe chipest hotels in Sultanahmet area are Asur Hotel, Santa Sofia Hotel and may be Golden Crown. But it depends on the agency you purchase the rooms from. If I remmember exactly I booked my hotel at turkeytps.com, the best prices are there.

Istanbul's Hotel Daphne is a shiny jewel of a place, in Sultanahmet only two minutes' stroll from the Hippodrome (At Meydani). The hotel takes its name from a Byzantine palace that once stood beside the Hippodrome. There's a sense of refinement and style in the 18 guest rooms and two suites that one would expect in a more expensive hotel. All the modern comforts are here, of course, including TVs (some flat-screen models), sophisticated individual remote-controlled air-conditioning units, satin bed coverlets, minibars, private safes for your valuables, piped-in music, hair-dryers and combination tub-and-showers in the private bathrooms, wireless Internet throughout the hotel, an elevator/lift to take you to the five floors, and English-speaking staff. Because of the hotel's position, all rooms enjoy sunshine and marvelous Sea of Marmara views. Top-floor rooms have small balconies. Perched at the top of a slope, the hotel faces south toward the sea across a historic mosque and ruined dervish hall. Because these historic buildings cannot be changed, there is nothing to block the hotel's view. The panorama is best from the rooftop restaurant-bar-cafe of course, but there are even good sea views from the lobby. A bonus: partial view of the Byzantine church-turned-mosque called the Little Ayasofya Mosque (Küçük Ayasofya Camii) which is just down the hill from the hotel.
Speaking of the restaurant, it specializes in Ottoman cuisine, but also features several Italian pasta dishes, and an interesting, eclectic wine list with vintages from France, Italy and South Africa as well as from Turkey. The marvel, for me, is that the sights around the Hippodromethe Blue Mosque, Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, Sunken Palace Cistern, Divan Yoluare so close, yet the street is so quiet. (It is literally a 95-second walk from the hotel door to the Hippodrome) Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Binbirdirek Mahallesi, Su Terazisi Sokak No. 10, 34400 Sultanahmet,Phone: Tel +90 (212) 638 7060Website: www.hoteldaphne.com

ok so i say if you are realy on a tight budget there is always the park bench ote The air conditioning was second to none. A lttle noisey at times but very pleasent listening to the birds chirping and the iman calling to prayers. But i would only recommend it for a very short stay :-) naybe a few hours And Its FREE :-))
the views are are brilliant 360 degrees of the city. And the deep blue sky the warm sun on your face. and a nice gentle breeze on your face. But the matress leaves a lot to be desired :-)) a little hard after a short time Leave a Comment Theme: OtherComparison: least expensiveAddress: There are quite a few of these to stop at and they are easy to find some are in very noisey and loud district while others are in superb locations but these always seem to be booked upDirections: The one i stayed at was in the sultanahmet disrtict just across from the blue mosque and right next to the fountains in the centre. near the tramway

side pension is a combined hotel and pension. it´s very well run by the friendly owners. the rooms have various standards and prices so there is a bit for everyone. the standard and prices range from lower middle to upper middle. the place has a really nice rooftop cafe where breakfast is served and where you can sunbade if you like.
what is first of all nice about the place is that it is very well run, with polite and helpful staff.
