Best Western Citadel Hotel

Just below the historical sites in the old section of Istanbul. Try to get the rooms facing the water (Marmara Sea). The top floors have the largest rooms. A short walk up the hill and you are in the center of the historical sites. Very nice rooms and the help is exceptionally friendly. Outside and inside restaurants, service and food is first class at a very modest price.

It has been about 8 years since we stayed at the Citadel and I think a major hotel chain has taken over ownership. Of course, they have raised their prices so it isn't quite so cheap anymore. We hope they kept the original staff as they were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
When we return to Turkey we will make a point of staying here as the view and actively in front of the hotel was engaging.
One day we just decided to sit around the hotel and absorb the scenery. We ordered a bottle of wine and sat at one of the outdoor tables. If someone has not told you of the wild, crazy, drivers in the city let me be the first!!! I would never drive in the city!! Just sitting at our table we observed 4 or 5 accidents right in front of the hotel, not to mention all the screeching brakes.
