From Sirkeci to Sultanahmet
by dabuwan
I've walked so many times on this crowded street between Sirkeci railway station (and the ferry stops) and the Sultanhamet area.
Now there is a tram, but walking is always a pleasure (especially downhill, as it is a bit steep).
Saying Hi/Hello
by travelife
Saying hi / hello to the tourists / foreigners is a turkish hospitality and it does make you feel welcome. But in a big city like Istanbul, what you gotta do is replying back with a smile and walking fast unless you wanna get into something other than sight-seeing. But as you go outside the main cities in Turkey, you are more likely to encounter true hospitable Turks with no strings attached to their friendly gesture.
Swimming in the islands
by ophiro
If you want to enjoy the sea you should go to the islands.
This is the place where turkish people go to enjoy the sea and the beaches.
You can go to Buyukada to swim but the less touristic island and more authentic it Kinaliada (the first island).
Bindirdirek Cistern
by SirRichard
This is the 2nd cistern in Istanbul, after the well known Yerebatan Cistern, by Hagia Sophia. Yerebatan uses to be too crowded in summer, so this little one is a good option to have a more relaxed visit.
To get there, take the first street at the left as you start Divan Yolu. Just in front of the Courthouse you will find a stone wall with an entrance. There is another entrance from the square on top, but here they will charge you 5 euros for the entrance (including one drink at the bar), while if you enter from the wall you won’t have to pay.
There is a nice (and COOL!!) bar/restaurant inside, where you can rest from the heat and the rush of the city…
Shopping malls of Istanbul 2
by muratkorman about Tepe Nautilus
This shopping mall is located in Asian side of Istanbul in Acibadem- Kadikoy. It was opened in 2002. Taking his name from the famous submarine of Jules Verne's novel, sea concept is dominating this shopping mall. There are 130 stores which consists of both international and local brands. There is also a cafe called Jules Verne which emphasizes the concept even more.
