SMALL FAMILY HOTEL
by cintemani about DAPHNE HOTEL
THIS HOTEL IS A NICE, FAMILY RUN HOTEL CLOSE TO SULTANAHMET SQUARE (HIPPODROME). YOU NEED TO CLIMB A LITTLE FROM THE HOTEL TO REACH THE SQUARE. ITS ROOMS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE, MODERN AND AIR-CONDITIONED.
MOST OF ITS ROOMS HAVE A NICE VIEW OF MARMARA SEA. THE ROOF IS TURNED INTO A RESTAURANT AND HAS AMAZING VIEWS OF ISTANBUL.
IT IS A NEWLY OPENED HOTEL AND WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND IT FOR TRAVELERS WHO ARE LOOKING FOR COMFORT AND GOOD LOCATION.

We booked our room through Expedia. When we arrived at the hotel, the management checked us in and informed us that we were staying at the other hotel next door. This hotel was not as nice as Hotel Daphne. When we insisted that we paid for a room at Hotel Daphne, they still refused to honor our request. After arguing and not backing down, they finally let us stay at the lowest level room with no view at the Daphne. Rooms are renovated but we had much better service througout Turkey. Try Hotel Sari Konak for example.
Mixed Experience

We were in Istanbul from the 20/5/2007 - 24/5/2007. We've made lots of research - from here, expedia & other websites and at last we decided on this hotel because we like the room layout from the hotel pics. Its the only hotel where from the pictures, its worth to pay that much. So we call the hotel to ask the rates and they told us that there are offers on Suite for Euro99 if we pay via Cash. Well, we booked it as we thought we got good deal
A day before we went to Istanbul, the hotel had e-mail us to ask for flight details since its free pick-up if we arrive from Ataturk Airport. But since we arrive in Sabiha Gokcen via Easy Jet - we were not sure whether they gonna pick up but give them the details anyway and hope that they would reply saying that they gonna pick up. But they didn't reply, I don't blame them as It might be because of the different time zone or somethin' like that
We didn't expect at all for the hotel to pick us up at the Sabiha Gokcen airport but what a suprise they did! We were so happy as we didn't have to struggle to take the taxi. However, the driver did told us since it is twice the journey to Ataturk, they would have to charge us the surcharge. We were ok with that as it is much cheaper than taking a taxi.
As we arrive at the hotel, we were greeted by a man which I think is the manager there. (He was the only person handling the reception while we were there) He didn't actually introduce himself. Then, we are given the key to the hotel room without having to sign anything. We were shocked when we arrive in the room as it is certainly not a Suite Room which we booked. It is just a standard double room! We sure this is confusion, so we went to the reception again. The same person then, apologies and told us that the Suite that we booked are not available. We were so angry for the fact that we were not informed of this when we register!!! He didn't even informed that we will not get a suite room or even inform us the change of booking details! The way that it was handle was totally weak. Imagine if we just assume that the room we were given is a suite, we would be paying 99euro per nite which is higher rate that we should be! At that time, we were so tired, we can't even think of finding another hotel and so decided to stay for a nite, and then maybe find another hotel tomorrow. He then apologies and try to make up by showing us a few standard room that is available for us to choose from. The rooms a somewhat different in size and decorations. At last we chose a standard double room which is exactly like the pics that we saw in the website and we got the actual rate which is euro90 per nite. They also send us a complimentary fruit basket as courtesy. At that time, we try to make our trip happy and not try to think about what happen so much, try to enjoy ourselves.
In the next few days, we did surveys the surroundings hotels. We actually went in and survey the guest rooms at those hotel. But, we feel that there is no other hotel that was actually as clean and as good as Daphne Hotel with that rate. So, we decided to stay at the hotel till the end of our trip. In spite of bad experience at first, we really like :-
1. The Room
Great size - bigger than European standard. The deco - standard modern hotel. The bathroom is beautiful with tiles, bath with great shower, hair dryer, toiletries - for us, big size in european standard. Lounge couch to relax. Icing in the cake - personal control of Air-Condition/heater in the room. After a tired humid day, it was nice to come back to a very relaxing, cool room which you can set the tempreture that u want!!!
2. Location
Very near to everything!
5 mins walk to Blue Mosque
5 mins walk to Hippodrome
7 mins walk to Haghia Sophia
10 mins walk to town centre
15 mins walk to Grand Bazaar
there is tourist bus stop everywhere
cash point in hippodrome
3. Breakfast
In the main restaurant near lobby - Acceptable standard with local variaties & a bit of english as well - cheeses, boiled eggs in chillies, sausages, buns, baguettes, olives, coffees, teas
4. Roof terrace
Beautiful - a place to relax
In spite of poor communication/ mgmt - we might stay here again next time, only if we are given the same room again ;-)
Stayed here twice would not stay here again

New management lacking. A young man was checking in and ask if they had a map of the area the desk clerk said no but we can sell you one for 5 euro. We booked two double rooms upper floors with water view for two seperate stays. First stay room was reallly a single and overlooked construction and junk filled yard. Friends room larger but on 2fl facing large tree and derlict building. I spoke to management and requested we have a larger room with vu when we returned for a 4 nite stay. I was assured we would. Well we were given the second floor room as mentioned above. They said perhaps we could change later but we were tired of packing and unpacking. The room was larger very clean nicely furnished and quiet but not worth the price fwe paid. It is a little out of the way and taxi drivers could never find it. I read the other review and can't believe it's the same hotel. Yes the roof top views are fantanstic. Interesting It was the only hotel or restaurant that had prices only in euros.
Lemon lady was right again.

I am stayıng at the Daphne as we speak. I had a group of ten women here for one nıght after beıng on the Asıan sıde for 9 days. Thıs hotel was a delıghtful breath of fresh aır for them. I wıll be here for sıx days between groups. I cannot thınk of a nıcer place to stay. The staff has been very accomodatıng. We enjoyed a specıally arranged dınner on the rooftop terrace for our group and the food was wonderful.
The Daphne,s locatıon ıs perfect for sıghtseeıng whıle stıll beıng ın a quıeter area (of course you can hear the call to prayer! but the wındows are very good and the ac fabulous!).
Unlike others, I had very quıck responses to my email inquiries. Perhaps there have been server issues.
I will most definitely use the Daphne agaın. In fact, my next group wıll be here im two weeks!
A comfortable and friendly hotel in Istanbul
by TripAdvisor Member Norwegiancouple
We stayed in a double room with balcony for 9 nights in June this year. It was a nice home for us to return to after each day's excursions around Istanbul, the most romantic city we have visited. Our room was very cozy with a balcony with sea view and even though we were offered a bigger room with direct sea view after a few days, we preferred to stay where we were. The furnishings of the room were nice and new, wooden floors in bedrrom and tiled en-suite and balcony. The excellent aircondition of the room made sure we could sleep comfortably through the hot turkish nights and made the room a nice retreat to freshen up before dinner. We both felt that the hotel staff did their best to make us feel welcome and looked after during our stay and all reception staff spoke good english. We also enjoyed dinner and or glasses of wine in the sunset from the roof terrace restaurant :)

Family Friendly Hotel
by aimani
Hi,
I will be in Istanbul for 2 nights in late July and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good hotel for us to stay in. I will be accompanied by my wife and 18 month old boy. We want to stay somewhere central that is family friendly. Our budget is around $160-$180 USD a night. Any suggestions will be muchly appreciated.

Try Cosmopolitan Park Hotel or Terrace Guesthouse - both on my Istanbul pages.

In my opinon, Daphne hotel is very good for family travels. Prise is about 150 USD for night, but you need to book on turkeytps.com or contact reservation@turkeytps.com, las time I did like that, no any problem occured.
