A true gem!

For our first visit to Istanbul, the Emine Sultan Hotel in Sultanahmet was absolutely and truly perfect (and at a very, very affordable price too)!!!

Fantastic location: close (5-10 min. on foot at most) to Hagia Sophia (museum), the "Little" Hagia Sophia mosque, the Blue Mosque, & the Sultanahmet tram stop; about 10 min. on foot to Topkapi Palace.

Cozy accommodations: our room was brand new, spotlessly clean, and so comfortable with a very comfortable bed and linens, individually controlled heat (that came on very, very quickly), and a well-stocked minibar; the photos on the hotel website really do tell the exact truth.

Personable service: all staff spoke English well; all was very polite and responsive; breakfast was plentiful with a great variety and with a fabulous sweeping view of the water and of the skylines of Beyoglu as well as of the Asian side.

Exceptional and special: Ozen, the hotel owner/manager, was very prompt and direct in her e-mail correspondences; she inquired about our interests and put together a fabulous list of recommendations for us first-time visitors that went beyond the usual stuff to include a special exhibit at the Sakip Sabanci Museum and some spot-on choices of restaurants; she invited all hotel guests to join her and her incredibly warm, gracious, and hospitable family for a New Year Eve celebration dinner (complimentary!!!) where we had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal and to visit with Istanbul residents whom we as tourists might not have been able to meet otherwise; she presented a beautifully gift-wrapped jar of fruit preserve for us to take back to the States, simply because I had mentioned to her how much I had enjoyed it at breakfast. Such kind, genuine and gracious hospitality, and no other agenda!!!

In all, in addition to its top-notch accommodations, location, and service, Emine Sultan Hotel offered us an unbelievable level of genuinely personable and attentive service, delivered on site by a hands-on and caring owner and her dedicated team.

Our stay here truly added to our indelible and touching memory of Istanbul.

A great place to stay!

I had originally booked another hotel, but on arrival found it to be overbooked. The friendly staff there were very apologetic and asked me if I wouldn’t mind looking at a nearby hotel as a possible alternative. That’s how I came across the Emine Sultan Hotel.
It really is an excellent hotel, offering great value in a wonderful location. My room was extremely comfortable and cosy, as well as being impeccably clean. There’s also a well-stocked mini-bar and a flat-screen TV. The bathroom kept up the high standard of the room, and I have to say that the power-shower was brilliant.
The hotel, quite recently opened, is family-run and that certainly shows. The staff in reception are very friendly and helpful and a real credit to the hotel. What else? The very reasonable price of the room includes breakfast on the terrace, with a great view of the sea. The lady who serves there is also a credit to the hotel. You can also grab a beer and sit on the terrace in the evening and take in the atmosphere. Also, there’s a laptop in reception available to all guests where you can browse the internet and check emails free of charge. This is certainly the place where I will always stay in Istanbul.

Fantastic staff,rooms and vue

by TripAdvisor Member ruthlitmana

I was not booked at Emine Sultan, but in another hotel.
Walking down the street I saw this cozy hotel, and came in..lucky me the owner Ozen, was at the desk, showed the hotel, top to bottom, and had someone help us move in.
The room was great,as well as the bathroom, absolutely clean, flat tv,lovely decoration, very comfortable bed(I have a back condition,so this is very important).
But the breakfast and the vue,as well as the location, are fantastic.
All the turkish delights ,the jams, pastries and cookies are home made, with a large choice of breads and fruits, its really hard to have a quick meal.
So being so well settled down,in such a fantastic city, with staff in the hotel making reservation and even taking us out to different places,we decided to extend our stay for 10 more days!!!!
Absolutely,I reccomend this place, and be sure to have Ozen, the owner make plans for you..

Wonderful people at Emine Hotel

What a gem of a hotel!

Reasonably priced; wonderful staff and at a great location. It feels like you are staying at someone's house -- a real family atmosphere -- small cozy hotel with only 10 rooms.

Ozen, the hotel manager actually offered to take us out clubbing the weekend we were there. They invited all the hotel guest, together with the two families that run the hotel for their New Year's celebration at their expenses. Our room (no. 301) was a tad small but comfortable and modern enough for a ten nights stay. (Free internet bandwidth.)

The hotel location was central without being at the middle of everything -- a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and yet avoids all the car, tram and tourist traffic/noise that you get with a location that is too central.

Great choice if you like small cozy hotels.

All the glowing reviews were justified

by TripAdvisor Member Sagaman

Quite simply the friendliest and most helpful hotel staff that I have ever encountered.

One small thing that was not quite 100% but could be easily improved: the breakfast. However the rate I paid was so competitive that I would have been happy even if no breakfast had been included.

Gem of Sultanahmet

by TripAdvisor Member abendl

We had two weeks away from the children. We had a couple days in Istanbul prior to touring the country and then we would return to Istanbul to spend a couple final nights. We wanted to be in comfort and enjoy our stay. When we first arrived in Istanbul we ended up in a dodgy hotel in Sultanahmet and decided that we could not return to the same hotel.

Fortunately we had a friend back in Canada that was very familiar with the area. It just so happens that she knew a family with a hotel in Sultanahmet. So she passed a family member's name on to us and we hooked up with him.

He encouraged us to stay at his family's hotel when we returned to Istanbul at the end of two weeks. We did and could not have made a better choice. The staff were awesome, the food excellent, the rooms small but immaculate, fabulously decorated, quiet and comfortable. The view was exceptional as was the location.

We will go back and when we do we will stay at the Emine.

Never once regretted staying here!

Our choice to stay at the Emine Sultan began with Tripadvisor, but was cemented by my correspondence with the hotel's manager/owner, Ozen. Immediately accommodating, charming and informative we quickly made our verbal reservations, including being picked up at the airport.

Upon our late arrival, we entered from the narrow, cobblestoned streets of Sultanahmet into a very clean and wonderfully decorated lobby. Our reception was first-class, with a welcoming basket of goodies which we enjoyed upon the open rooftop veranda overlooking the Bosphorus, while the Blue Mosque shone in the background.

The rooms were immaculate, with every convenience, and decorated nicely with touches that suggested a great eye for detail and comfort. We felt as if we were guests in someone's home.

The staff was extremely helpful, each consistently demonstrating the management's concern for our comfort and needs. It was also important to note that, having experienced the subsequent quest to lighten our wallets while touring the city, the management at Emine Sultan did not hard sell you, upcharge you, disguise charges, or anything untoward. The earned our absolute trust and I recommend that for any arrangements, or perhaps major purchases of carpets, etc that you confide with Ozen, the manager beforehand.

The location was conveniently located and made for a great base of touristic operations. Don't fear the public transportation, and the hotel does have a car it will make available for special needs.

A great time and stay - unreservedly!
