on June 27, 2006I got assigned this hotel having booked my flights via LastMinute.com (the first time I've used them and I must say that for the price of the add on I was pretty chuffed with my deal).
The hotel itself is unspectacular and predictable, but had all I was looking for which was air conditioning, a good location (in fact the location was excellent) and most important was the hygiene as it was nice and clean. Add to this pleasant staff and an ok breakfast I was pleased with what I got and found it no bother stopping there for 5 days.
Especially as you are literally right in the middle of things and I had no problems finding a decent place to eat and stock up on water as the hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shops.
Stating this hotel has unique qualities may be stretching things but on floor 5 it has a terrace bar which has a great view. While grabbing a nice cold beer you can gaze at the Haghia Sofia on the one side and the front view provides a landscape of the bosphurus. For me the best quality of this hotel is the location. You are about 100 metres from a tram (Gulhane) and just under 5 minute walk from the trio of Blue Mosque/Haghia Sophia and Basilica cistern one way and a few minutes from Eminonu (port area) the other.
