Close to Sultanahmet and Yenikapı
This 4-star hotel is located in Fatih district close to the Fındıkzade tram stop. The personnel is nice, although some of them have little problems with English, but never mind. The breakfast was tasty and diverse. The hotel features a wlan, I also could use it up in my 2nd floor room (although they warned me that it works only in the lobby).
You can easily access the old city (Kapalı Çarşı, Topkapı palace, Sultanahmet Camii, Ayasofia) by tram, and there are also several buses leaving for Taksim and İstikal Caddesi, so the modern downtown.
Unique Quality: Wlan, hairdresser, big conference room.

i have been looking on the web for booking my hotel in istanbul.
1. how far is sirkeci 49 to sultanhamet where all the sight are.
because i would prefer to find a hotel in sultanhamet i have found some but need to know how good they are.the one in sirkeci is called seres special hotel anyone know how good etc
2. some other hotel if anyone know anything about it i would appreciate the info

historia special hotel in sultanhamet but this was last renovated in 1995

I dont know any of these hotels actually but I can say that sirkeci area is pretty close to Sultanahmet area. Its about 5 min walk. Forget the hotel in findikzade area. I guess the hotels in Findikzade area mainly host group tours, and its a bit far from Sultanahmet although there is an easy light-train access. I am not quite sure but Aksaray area (closer then Findikzade to Sultanahmet)is a bit dangereous with its russian prostitues, some drugdealers and tourist trap bars. And traffic s a mess there...

Grand Anka is good hotel in Findikzade but it is 25 min away (by walk)from Sultanahmet.http://www.istanbul.net.tr/flashharita.swf this is the map of istanbul.Sirkeci is very close to Sultanahmet but it is not a nice place to stay.Aksaray and Laleli are not good places to stay either.Findikzade is OK.you can take a tram to s.ahmet .it takes five min. arrive to s.ahmet.

I stayed at Seres Hotel www.sereshotel.com for a reason. It was quiet and clean. Location is great actually. You'll be very close to Sultanahmet as it said above. Hotel is situated at the way of tram path but rooms are looking at backyard. Not big at all (rooms i mean) but big enough to not get bored at the same time.
It would be better to stay closer to Sultanahmet. And Uyan Hotel could be one of the options. www.uyanhotel.com

we stayed in Sultanahmet last year and again this year. We enjoyed our hotel last year and decided to stay there again. Very friendly, quick walk to everything.
Sultans Inn - you get a better price doing it from a hostel website.
